And yet none of them succeeded in Carolina and was approved by the QB gurus of our fanbase.

Nobody on the huddle was clamoring to sign Teddy Bridgewater before we were linked to him. Nobody on the huddle was clamoring to trade for Darnold before we were rumored to be interested. Very few people on the huddle were clamoring to trade for Baker back when he was with the Browns due to the rumors about him in the locker room.

Regardless. All of them showcased more arm talent than Bryce Young. That alone cannot make a franchise QB but it can often mitigate other deficiencies.

With Bryce Young the margin for error is already very slim given his size. With his lack of arm talent and the advantage that gives to defenses what you see is what you get.

If you want to bury your head in the sand and reside in an alternate reality that's your prerogative.

Well, Hooker was a guy that was drafted in the 3rd round pick sitting behind a well established starter yet Detroit somehow saw enough to let him go after two offseasons.

Where does that fit into your ideal situation?

They didn't need Hooker in the first place, but perhaps they had seen enough. Hooker was never highly regarded as a day one or day two pick either. He was a flyer.

Green Bay did it right. They had an established QB whose expiration date was within their sight, and drafted a day one (some may have thought day 2) and let him sit for a few years before throwing him into the fire and effectively messing him up.

We don't have an ideal situation, and will likely be long for one. If we had kept Darnold or Baker, we may be in that type of situation which would've afforded us the ability to draft a QB on day one or two and give them time to develop.

Getting back to Hooker, the only thing that I said is that I'd rather see him. The season is largely fúcked anyways. I can't even say that it's right or fair to throw him out there, but I'm so tired of mentally dealing with the Bryce Young rollercoaster. I've seen enough. Never again will I be open to drafting a short guy at QB.

I saw Hooker live in Detroit. He. Stinks.

What would you have the team do? We have started 8 QBs since Cam Newton and all of them have been "bigger" than Bryce. They all failed here. Whats the solution grab a guy that looks the part and lose due to having to develop another rookie QB?? Whats the master plan? Keep hitting the reset button? We have down that for 7 years. That strategy didnt work.

How many of our 8 QBs were given 2+ seasons of starts?  Not a whole lot.

The way they are handling Bryce IS the right way. But he's showing all we need to know.

Finding a QB is hard. But you don't stop doing it when you don't have one.

I was gonna say they did not give those others anywhere near the investment around them. Nor the long leash.
Think about what each of them could do with the amount of investment in their protection and weapons.

People wanted to get rid of Cam. He was our other fist round QB selection. You keep them through their rookie contracts. You cant provide a better solution because their isn't one right now. The only 2 QBs that could overcome our historically bad team is Mahomes and Josh Allen. They dont grow on trees buddy.  Sellars nor Archie Manning close to them right now.

Boy you sure set me straight. More years of Bryce on a rookie contract is the solution to not having Mahomes or Allen?

I could have improved the team simply by drafting a Spencer Rattler in the 5th round last year and dealt with his rookie contract for millions less and gotten better quarterbacking.

That is the truth, sad as it is.

At this point, all the ‘what aboutism’ from the OP isn’t going to change what Young was,  is or will be

the reasons why the Panthers need  move on from Young have been talked about ad nauseam

There are 31 other starting  QBs in the NFL other than Young

id take anyone of them over Young plus a few backups

ive used this quote before.  When Bill Parcells was told of Young’s size, and he was going to be number 1 overall, he said

’he better be able to walk on water’

I haven’t seen a whole lot of ‘water walking ‘

He would be more exciting but it would probably end up like shooting off fireworks in the house.

Yeah, I don't think it would. Might want to review the tape on the past two preseasons with him. The game I saw there was a massive gulf between him and Kyle Allen. Hence why he got cut.

This is cherry picking and, quite honestly, with some suspect examples with recency bias. The overwhelming majority of bust QB's that teams move on from end up never amounting to anything more than a lower level starter to middling backup.

I would wager likely greater than 95% in the past 25 drafts or so.

We don’t even have to do all of this. Why hasn’t a QB been good here since Cam Newton?
