You could always sit the rookie a portion of the season or all of it. The Giants sat Dart a quarter of the season, the Chiefs sat Mahommes for a while.  Just getting a vet doesn't preclude you from draft a rookie QB.  Actually, it's the smart way to go.  At #1 overall, it's tough not to roll the dude out there game 1. Outside of the top 5? You have reason to justify not throwing the rookie to the wolves.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm not saying to not draft a QB next year. I'm saying that if you're Canales and Morgan first thing's first, you gotta GET to next year. I think they're gonna have to do something to make a move for a bandaid QB approach if they're gonna make it to next year.

You should have kept that to yourself. We have enough turnover machines on the roster already.

Yeah but Jamis is good for air-raiding Ds for 2 or 3 games between the 5 int games.
You honestly wouldnt take that over what we put on the field yesterday?

No I would not. We have tried the street FA many times and all it does is delay the inevitable. They should have brought someone in in the offseason and they didn't. You will suffer along with the rest of us.

Bring Jameis in. I feel we have our answer on Bryce, now we need to see about Canales. I don’t think Canales is a good coach, but it’s obvious he needs a gunslinger to run his offense. Jameis will be able to do that, while showing that the offensive pieces that we have aren’t that bad.

We know what the inevitable is, but we also need to see if there is any hope for DC as a HC. It's painfully obvious Bryce can't run his offense and Tepper wouldn't allow anyone in the off-season to challenge his golden child. Now we've reached the point that either Bryce has to be benched for Dalton or we have to get someone that can run an air raid style offense. We're already getting blown out. At least this way it will be a little entertaining to watch for a week or so.

Got it. Unless Dalton gets injured again, I really don't see them making a move.  It's Bryce and Dalton.  Morgan will make it this year, I think Canales will too. Both will likely get to start the '26 season before the plug gets pulled.  Tepper loves his in-season firings, but I think this year is too soon from Dave's perspective namely because he hand picked both of these guys. Even by his impatient nature, it would look hasty as heck to pull the plug on HIS guys in under two seasons.

Thats not an excuse to trade for another piss poor qb. Canales chose this route and on that alone I can determine his prowess as a head coach. Bringing in a practice squad qb is not going to change anything on this offense.

That's why I'd bench Bryce sooner rather than later. There are still several weeks until the trade deadline. There's plenty of time to get a good look at Dalton. If he's looking like ass after 2-3 games at that point I think you have to seriously shop around.

There's the catch-22.  We win a few meaningless games and end up in that 7-10 draft slot purgatory we seem to always be in.  Yes, we get a good player, but just miss out on the elite ones.  I know the staff is coaching for their jobs, but it seems to be a vicious cycle that keeps us where we are today.

I can see a point where they start dumping contracts for draft picks. If that starts happening a purge is coming.
