The absolute travesty of this pick was that all you had to do was wait. We had top pick the next day of the draft at top of the second round. Spend the night regrouping. Field trade offers. Consult counter opinions. Do a last minute checklist for Christ’s sake. There were multiple viable prospects there (with McKonkey a clear fit for Bryce’s game). The trade up was just indefensible.

They just couldn't turn down that 5th year option on a 24 year old WR lol. If you think he's bad now imagine when he's about to hit 30 and losing a step and due for his 2nd contract yikes.

F it, now is the time! this is about the perfect setup for him. He should be fresh and phins have the Panthers of ILB at CB.

Get over this awful slump, blueprint is this week!

and it could be a slump--I can say that Bryce's timing is usually off when he throws to XL for whatever reason.

XL looked bad with Bryce last year. He looked better with decent to competent QB play. Now he looks bad again. Wait until the kid looks bad with some consistent QB play before he is labeled a resounding bust. WRs used to take three years, now everyone is a bust. At this point in his career, our beloved Smitty would have been considered a bust. In year one he caught 10 passes for 154 yards and 0TDS. Year two he had 54 catches for 800 yards and 3 TDs. Both years he played 15 games. Chill out! If he continues to be terrible cool, doesn't progress at all this year or next fine. But the he's not smart, he doesn't know English, and I am calling it now crowd are doing too much.

This is ignoring the parade of bust WR's the Panthers have had over the past 20 years. If you can point out the examples of these WR's going elsewhere and getting better than before here, by all means, please show them to us.

More likely than not, you are going to see more Philly Brown's, Brenton Bersin's and the like that never had any appreciable NFL career post-Panthers.

Hence why I continually point out our issues is far less the development than the evaluation of players.

I am bc always puzzled how these faults manage to transcend multiple different eras with completely different  people across the board, making judgements on players.

I get that. When you said Funchess, I knew that he only looked good here and the same for Philly. I was really mad about the Benjamin over Devante Adams and the Funchess over Stephon Diggs picks. We would've no doubt had the talent to beat the all time defense of the Broncos. Rant over, I believe that the kid has looked decent at times, but being all out on him at this stage is a bit premature. I am with you on the going elsewhere and balling out though. People are saying that about Bryce and I feel if he can't look even competent here it isn't going to look better elsewhere. I am just saying we wait till at least there is continued competence at QB before we start labeling our WRs busts 19 games into their careers.

I want XL to be right because he is sort of a homie, local and state and on the pro home team.

He has good things going for him but this year he is way off on the wrong foot. That getting ejected from the preseason game on what was it, the first play? WTF. Loafing, not having your head in the game situationally, WTF man.

A d I am not even talking about his drops last year which I could dismiss if he came in right.

Better step it up or he will be last option to catch a ball from any new and better QB that might come along.

I am gonna be honest, at XL's extreme best moments for us so far, he has looked decent. That is a problem already.

It hasn't taken Coker(a UDFA, mind you) or TMac to need a competent QB to show plenty of flashes. Hell, Tremayne has looked markedly better than XL. Same dumpster fire QB.

There is no excuse to be giving next to no effort and mailing it in like XL has been this season. And that's after a season marked by drops and boneheaded plays.

The truth is, he isn't an NFL player. Even a little bit. It's up to him if he ever wants to attempt it, but he hasn't so far.

At least he will be making it easy for us if he dogs it this way. I know we aren’t a social thing it is production, but I wonder if there is something in his personal or family life that is twisting him up.

My theory is that his passion is really doing the social media thing and not being an NFL player. Which, that's perfectly fine but you wouldn't be a social media draw if it weren't for the association with football.
