Canales in his press conferences

He is the dumbass that got picked for Bryce and took the giant payday to do so. What has he done to earn a shot or use a top pick this offseason? I have seen him fail enough personally. He needs to spend more time as a coordinator and learn from a HC that can show him how to be a successful HC becaude nothing points to him figuring it out currently. Have you ever seen the team ready for the season under him? I sure haven't.

He was given an impossible task. If Mayfield says he sucks I will believe it. I am not believing it off of Bryce freaking Young failing because there Is no fixing that guy.
Also in play, big time, do you really think Tepper can attract an upgrade? I am very skeptical of that.
I am not gonna go back and forth there is a lot that has to play out - that is my position until there are further developments.

No he stepped up for an impossible task for a lot of money. There was a year of film and his friend that became GM had all the inside info. Im calling BS on that. He isn't a victim of Young but a willing accomplice.

I think we got him because of the Young issue. Without the Young issue next year we just have the Tepper issue so maybe? It's worth a try IMO. Top pick, another ridiculous contract and if the fans are lucky the new people can negotiate better Tepper handling g to take the job.

I am not there with firing him as long as he only has had Bryce to work with. I won’t rant against it if it happens but thisnisn’t a fair opportunity for anyone.
I know the arguments for it no need to try and convince me, I need to see him fail with a good QB.

like 90 % of coaches dont get a chance to fail with a good QB, its not an excuse either, look what KOC did with Darnold. Now he does deserve a chance to get a QB he thinks he could at least be mediocre with which you can acquire in free agency.

To all y’all I can read the room and understand my opinion wouldn’t be popular. I have had them before. It is what it is.

I don’t need you guys to rebut my opinion thinking I would be convinced by your opinions.
I have had enough of that with my unpopular Bryce opinion - which was fuging 100% right btw. I wasn’t a flip to anti Bryce I was anti Bryce ore draft. Never changed my take. Not saying That’s not saying I won’t  change this one.

Said at the beginning I expected missteps. You should expect them when you admittedly hire a guy before he is ready and need him to grow into the job. We are four games into the second season with a hopeless albatross around our necks playing QB.  I need to see more before I join the lynch mob. His beta voice and cheerleader stuff notwithstanding, because I don’t like that. It isn’t my idea of what grown men respond to.

But he was brought here to try and salvage a train wreak of a draft pick at QB which I never thought could be done, I need to see him fail with a good piece of clay, before I flush him. He did a good job with Baker. He obviously has a huge pile of poo to contend with - that btw won’t get any smaller for the next Tepper lackey. It won’t be easy for whoever. I am gonna try and stay out of the Canales party moving forward.

We talk about Canales and Young

let’s not forget our GM

…can someone explain to me how we managed to have the absolute worst linebackers in the NFL and the GM is a former MLB

im struggling with, all the young players on practice squads, all the free agents, and he manages to draft Wallace and signs Rosenboom   And jewel etc…In all the nfl world, those are the best we could do.

…or with all the decent, true  receivers in last year’s draft, Morgan goes after Legette AND TRADES UP FOR HIM…a guy whose strengths (if he has any)  absolutely does not map to young…and Ladd  Mcconkey  was sitting there    I thought for all the world, that is who was going to be drafted

it is mind  boggling

Simply mind boggling

I would say the state the defense was reduced to by the Bryce propping left them a multi year fix, and they were doing the front to back deal starting with the front and the pass rush.
They tried to get by with Wallace, hoping he could pick it up his second year, and Jewel. With Rozeboom for depth - and got hit. Pretty simple.
We had the guy the Steelers took in range (2024) but passed for I think durability concerns. I don’t remember who we had the option to pick and didn’t this past year. And probably could have maneuvered out of pick 8 to get a talented ILB but then, you know, we had to have that offense for little Mr Excitement. And it looks like a very good pick so what can you say.

He only wrote like 20% of it, and “writing” is a stretch. Almost all of it is Izzy’s and it reads like a screenplay treatment. Or like she’s describing what she imagined the story would like as a movie. Neither of them is writing great gatsby any time soon.

The book was published by some scammy self financed author company so he had to put up the money himself for her to publish it. You get the sense this was a “sorry i cheated on you” gift. Izzy wants to become an evangelical motivational speaker and needs a book to be able to sell after her speeches.

The big takeaways were…

1. There’s powerful “yeah I DID do this and only this and I am so sorry for doing this, the only thing I did” energy in the story. It’s clearly not all he did.

2. Izzy baby girl what is you doing

3. Dave is a colossal asshole (spending money at strip clubs while his wife can’t afford groceries) and in all of the parts he “wrote” he comes across as weird and full of himself.

4. something very clearly happened between Dave and someone on the staff from Seattle and it’s probably Brad Idzik. It is alluded to several times because the book wasn’t edited so there’s lots of different fragments of the same story.

You actually read that book?!

Are you also insinuating that DC had a homosexual relationship with BI?

    • The irony is the vast majority of this board are long-suffering Panthers fans.  It is inherent in the nature of it being a message board.  We are a prehistoric relic of glory days past.  The new fans are all on Reddit, discord, and all that other poo.
    • Again, it’s not about that single play.  Me saying that defines his era is reflective of 2.5 years of work.  Yes, Zavala played a big part in that failure of a play, but as the commentators mentioned, Bryce also has to get tf back as soon as he snaps it.  He has always had more issues operating from under center as well.  That all ties in to the fact that for over 2.5 years, he has these inexplicable plays that you never see happen anywhere else.  I’ve been on this Earth four decades and watching or playing football for three of them, and I do not recall ever seeing that happen before.  Have I seen someone fumble the snap in 4th?  Yes.  Have I seen someone try to escape pressure after getting the snap and falling over or flailing around until they were sacked?  Sure.  Throw a pick?  Yes.  Fumble after getting the snap?  Yes.  Lots of bad things can and have happened.  Not even getting out from under the center, falling on your back, then looking like you can’t figure out how to get up until you’re touched down?  Never.  So even when other players are involved in the fug ups since Bryce has been the QB, the point is, it’s some intangible quality that is present with him at QB.  Things happen that shouldn’t happen.  Inexplicable fug ups are the norm. And again, I I fully considered we had 3+ mins and the defense was playing well when I posted it.  I even believed the with the way Bryce was playing outside of the 4th down flubs, that it was likely we could win…  and I am ecstatic we won.  But again, the point of this thread is the play was representative of a much bigger and persistent problem.  Look how great we felt after getting over .500 and then had a gimme win at home against a fuging 1-8 team.  Bryce comes out and doesn’t even show up while getting outplayed by several magnitudes against a 27 year old 2nd round pick in his second start.  That is fuging inexplicable and should never fuging happen.  Brian St. Pierre would’ve looked like fuging Joe Montana in that scenario.  Dameyune Craig would’ve looked like Mahomes.  But it was likely Bryce didn’t even show up.  That’s where this thread comes from.  As good as winning today feels, do I trust him to come back out and do it again next week, or ever again?  Absolutely not.  And that’s the problem.
    • He threw long most of his college career.  He is a superb deep ball passer.
