Let’s be honest here. Take out the last seven years which have obviously been horrible. The Panthers were roughly a .500 team, and that’s only because of a 2-3 year stretch right around both Super Bowl runs. We essentially caught lightning in a bottle twice and went back to the dumps both times. No one has ever considered us a perennial threat. Sure, Tepper is god awful, but we’d still be bitching with 10-7, 9-8, 8-9, 7-10 because it all means the same thing - no championship and no consistency. Even in the “good” years, anyone who had been a fan for any real amount of time knew we would regress to the mean at best. 3-14 or 9-8? I don’t give a poo. Neither one wins a championship, and there’s never been a reason to believe we would be a contender year in and year out.
