(Potential) 2026 GM Candidate List

Recommended Posts

I don't think Dan Morgan will be gone after this season, but some requested a potential 2026 GM candidate list. So here ya go.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Top/Rising General Manager Candidates:

Notre Dame general manager Mike Martin
Atlanta Falcons vice president of player personnel Kyle Smith
Tampa Bay Buccaneers senior personnel executive Byron Kiefer
Detroit Lions assistant general manager Ray Agnew
Detroit Lions director of college scouting Brian Hudspeth
Houston Texans assistant general manager Chris Blanco
Former Indianapolis Colts chief personnel executive Morocco Brown
New England Patriots senior personnel executive Alonzo Highsmith
Buffalo Bills director of player personnel Terrance Gray
Las Vegas Raiders vice president of player personnel Brandon Hunt
Los Angeles Chargers assistant GM Chad Alexander
Seattle Seahawks Vice President of Player Acquisition Matt Berry
Kansas City Chiefs assistant GM Mike Bradway
New York Giants assistant GM Brandon Brown
Cleveland Browns assistant GM Glenn Cook
Chicago Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham
Indianapolis Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds
Buffalo Bills assistant GM Terrance Gray
Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant GM Mike Greenberg
Philadelphia Eagles assistant GM Alec Halaby
Green Bay Packers director of football operations Milt Hendrickson
Houston Texans director of player personnel James Liipfert (may be the assistant GM with Texans now)
Baltimore Ravens VP of football administration Nick Matteo
Los Angeles Rams assistant GM John McKay
Washington Commanders assistant GM Lance Newmark

Please correct me where I may have incorrect titles and add any names you think may be rising.

Again, I don't think Dan Morgan will be fired after this season, but some requested this following the HC thread I made. I personally like knowing the names of these up and coming GM/HC candidates whether we are searching or other teams.

I watched:

-a FA Dan picked up run for 200 yards

-His 1st round draft pick go over 350 yards for the season

-His 2nd round pick have a 90 pff grade this week

-Jimmy Horn catch a clutch pass on 4th and long

-Mitchell Evans score a TD to win a game

and right now the defense has went from 32nd last year to 12th.

The only thing that hasn’t improved is the passing game….

I think Dan is okay at the moment

I agree. I think his job is safe.

All Dan needs is to play other terrible teams to look good.

Unfortunately they will be getting a gut check this weekend and then more soft serve the week after. The rest looks mostly like a killing field with Atlanta and 2x NO.

I think Dan has been really good in his role. The most important jobs a GM has are keeping the salary cap in order, and evaluating draft talent. I don't think he's done anything even remotely bad on either of those fronts. In fact I'd say those are his two biggest strengths.

We love to fire people around here....

If only we could play the Dolphins 17 times every year.

If you can’t tell the team has improved from last year to this year, it’s apparent you don’t watch games. The only thing that hasn’t improved is the QB who had statistically been the same since 2023.

I don't think Dan's job is either safe or in jeopardy no matter what he does, his job security should be 100% tied to Canales.

History has shown that both GM's and HC's who get hired separately, do not usually have long term success, the ones that are hired in tandem in the same offseason are the ones that have a higher success rate.

Morgan should be here as long as Canales is here, but once Tepper decides to move on from Canales, Morgan then needs to go as well so we can bring in a pair who are a good fit for each other, rather than each of them trying to adapt what they want to do to fit with the other.

I also don't even need to read that list to know I don't want anyone on it, as I want someone who people wouldn't be thinking about, as in, someone who is already a GM or Asst GM who teams don't expect to be interested in making a move.

It's the one place where Tepper can throw is big wallet down on the table and out spend the rest of the league because there is no cap restrictions there.  Go out and make an offer to an elite GM candidate to where they just can't say no because of how much you're offering them.

Then you give them the keys to the house and stay the F out of the way, just let them do their thing and what you're paying them big money to.

Dan has gone into each offseason with a target area to upgrade and has seemed to have done well. This offseason will probably be passing attack and linebacker

Way too early to tell.

We have a ton of cap invested in the OL and we need to see how that group looks against better competition than the worst teams in the league. Same with the defense.

Beyond that I can agree that the recent draft picks are showing promise.

But there's still an elephant looming large. The QB room. Yeah we're squeaking by teams like the Dolphins but as we get further into our schedule and play teams that have better rosters better QB's better defenses and good coaching staffs we're going to be talking about these things a good bit most likely. Just pace yourselves folks.
