And I would guess you have at least a hundred Bryce is trash threads over the last week alone. Everyone gets it by now. Your obsessed with him. Your hate knows no bounds. Someone could post something about the kicker and you would find a way to get a dig in there.

POST: "Wow our kicker is great. He just hit a 58 yrd field goal"

YOU: Yeah but if Bryce could throw beyond 5 yards, he wouldn't of needed to.

But I tell you what. I won't post anything supportive of Bryce for the next week for you if it bothers you that much.

The only one in this particular thread that is giving the vibe of being obsessed and bothered is the one following others around and going on diatribes about their posts. That's you. All you're doing here is trying to police discourse when nobody asked you to and giving the appearance of someone that is unwell. I hope that clears things up for you.

I think there is room for other interpretations of the inner working of the DM SF bromance.
Yourself, being a man of character, work for your best friend. You might be close enough to speak your true opinion without repercussion.
Stay with me.
Dan was really good NFL MLB. How do you think a guy that played against Brady, Farvre, people like that, would view going against a 5’10” noodle arm that wasn’t a human joystick?
I know I what I think about that.

So he say to best bud, I don’t know about this. Looks risky. Best Bud says, your opinion is noted. What about that DT we are looking at? Dan was a defensive guy.

Now I will stretch it further but I don’t need to. Fit says the Tepper’s are in love with the guy what do you want me to do?
That isn’t even necessary it may be that Fit loved him too.

There are multiple things that an open minded person might view as realistic scenarios.

Just sayin.

As far as the offensive overeating at the buffet, I really believe that was an edict from the boss: “do not let him fail. Know what zi’m sayin?”.

I see what youre saying but I also wonder about how it all fits it with the rest of the drafts he was a part of with Fitts, the team building strategies which appear similar, the trades or lack of, particularly Burns or other things in general.

Thats the problem you run into when you promote staff instead of hiring from outside. You dont really know how involved they were in the god awful decisions of their predecessor. Fitts was probably one of the worst I have ever seen as a manager ever in any field. There are really no words for how bad he was. And Dan was his right hand. So how much of those decisions Dan signed off on or brought to table or disagreed with, who knows.

This draft looks good at the moment. But I'm still no fan of how he's gone about spending resources to build this team as a GM.

If you want my honest assessment I think Morgan is largely doing the bidding of the Tepper’s who are still meddling and guiding moves just as they were when Fitterer was GM. The fact that we have made absolutely no attempt to make any significant changes to the draft scouts in years and instead doubled down on analytics and hired a PFF guy basically confirms this.

There's a reason no other legitimate GM candidates were seriously considering the Panthers.

I like Dan Morgan. None of this changes my perception of him in Panthers lore.

But there are realities that have to be recognized. He's done good things he's done not so good things. There's a lot we still need to see and there are still many football games left to play. All we can do is see what unfolds.

Dan Morgan as GM has absolutely paid through the nose to surround Young with as much talent as possible even to the detriment of other areas of the roster. Does that sound like someone who took the job knowing that his success would be dependent on a player he never wanted to draft in the first place?

There's no need for revisionist history.

He paid through the nose to build a solid oline something that every QB needs

Just to be clear no one in the front office at the time before or immediately following the 2023 draft including Fitterer Morgan or Reich was saying Bryce Young would need the highest paid OL in the entire league which we now have just to look halfway serviceable.

I am just saying that there are realistic alternatives to the Dan is totally Fitterer in all his opinions and incapable of his own mind. Because we don’t know what really happened.

And your job is to support your boss even if you aren’t 100% in agreement.
And further you do not publicly dissent.  Publicly meaning when more than just the two of you are around.

ISO believe he is doing Tepper’s bidding on a lot of things and I believe it was very likely as a new hire, in 2024.
If I were to speculate further I would think that Canales has a big say in the offensive evaluations and Dan might not feel like he should be flatly overruling him since he is not an offensive guy. Any differences of opinion, if Canales feels strongly about an evaluation or decision Dan would be more likely to go with Dave than to overrule.

But can’t claim to know anything with any certainty.

I do think Dan showed us some solid work in this draft.

I also am WTF no QB competition. But I know we agree that it wouldn’t take much to show Bruce up and it seems like they were avoiding that.
In the big picture of the developmental arc they may have decided on, maybe that was okay for year two. It will absolutely not be okay for next year. And Canales has brought Hookernin so that is a small move in the direction we wanted them to go.

Bryce was a Fitterer pick.  I do believe more could have been done to bring in competition.

Most GMs are hit and miss.

And obviously Dan was on board with Young too or he would have done more to replace him.

Unless you believe that the man that hired and pays him placed conditions on it.
which I would buy 10 of before so bought one of Dan, a veteran of the NFL and high level player in his day, is blind.

I think there are times when we sometimes have difficulty separating Morgan the GM from Morgan the player when assessing his body of work. That comes with the territory of the hire that we made because of our very limited options.

But it all boils down to just how involved are the Tepper's. This organization and front office need to run independently without their interference. I don't know that we will ever see that happen unfortunately.

But I'll let this thread get back to the initial discussion which was about Scourton playing well. Hopefully we see more of that from him and the rest of the rookie class.

My hope is TMac is a WR1 (looks very possible), Scourton is a solid starting edge (looks also possible), Princely can be a pass rushing specialist (like a better, healthier Haynes), Fitz is our future kicker (looks possible), and Thornton can replace Jackson as CB2 next year (very small sample size but looks good). That would be a huge win and anything else is just gravy.

This would make it a great draft

Or Morgan believes in building through the trenches which he has actually shown the last 2 offseasons.
