I mean.. Considering the fact Moton & Icky have missed a game + Hunt has missed most of the season, can't say I am surprised with the low pass block win rate. Honestly, Zavala & the JAX game where Nijman was at LT are probably the biggest contributors to the low pass block win rate (Zavala definitely struggled pass blocking when he was out there). Corbett probably hurt the rating also, since he looked much worse than Mays.

I'd rather pay our LT than both guards. BC is killing it at RG id look into moving on from Hunt somehow

And Damien Lewis. You should NEVER overpay for OGs. It was just an overreaction to how horrible the guards were in 2023, so I kind of understand. But you don't need the best OGs, just serviceable ones.

How about draft elite guards? Even then when you have to eventually pay them, you got 4 years of dirt cheap play to balance out that later cap hit.

I'd say just draft guards 4th round or later every year. You'll always have a few waiting in the wings if a guy wants to get paid big money. Every player is important, but just average play at the position is sufficient in the NFL.

Save big pay days for WRs, QBs, LTs and CBs.

Lewis is better than Hunt in pass blocking, we didn't need both of them, but nobody anticipated that Zavala would actually be serviceable.

They should have. Just not as a rookie. A 4th round guard should be waiting his turn to start by his 2nd or 3rd season. You don't throw a 4th round rookie to the wolves unless you have to. Break glass ONLY in case of emergency.

Mistakes were made. But now that they have a baseline, it shouldn't happen again. Keep stacking one every season to get ready.

Could we splurge on a center in the second round?  Cade Mays at center looks serviceable as a later round pick but, I’m not sure that you can count on that too often…

For a true center, not a guard transitioning? Yes. That's allowed. He has to be an All American though.

I have not been impressed with our pass blocking since at least 2022. Still remember watching Darnold live against the Seahawks when we were dominating them in the run game and we still allowed far too much pressure on him regardless. It has not gotten much better since.

In fairness to this year's unit, they have been hit by injuries. Oftentimes, even a mediocre overall unit is better than a stacked one if the former stays healthy throughout the entire season. Constant shuffling only means a much greater likelihood someone will blow their assignment and that's all it takes for a sack or worse.

Seems a scouting department issue where they are looking more for run blocking traits

    • ^I want that, but Rodriguez over KC. Don't hate KC as much at that spot, but rather take a WR with the pick we gain in that trade than in the 1st.
    • I think there is good points in this thread to what the team needs to do. 1) Ball isn't really the issue but, he needs reigned in.  Coach and he need to realize when things aren't falling from the three and learn to play other facets of the game.  He's an amazing talent and when he's on, he's on.  But he can also shoot you out of a game.  We're lucky Miami went that way but that is too many missed threes.  He still needs to bulk up if he can, but he needs to drive more.  He's pretty good at finishing usually and hopefully the fouls come (probably not though).   2) The whole team needs to be more physical.  As others have stated, we need more bulk in our bigs.  Diabate is a hurricane of energy but cannot go against the larger centers.  I love him on the team but he should be more of a match up type guy or energy off the bench.  I think he'd be insane off the bench.  However I think the biggest issue with Diabate and Kaulk is the lack of offensive game.  The lack of a jump shot or anything.  Teams figured out to just leave them on the screen and crash lanes.  There has to be some sort of threat.  We need a 4 and a 5 that can do those things and stretch out the court. 3) Bridges.  He's just undersized.  However, I feel he really threw his all into it the last few weeks when others were gassed.  He was ok not being a focal point.  I'd like to have him off the bench as well but I assume he'd be traded to make things work.  4) Miller.  Dude can light it up when on, but disappears for quarters at a time.  Also he needs to work on ball handling and passing.  He's a turnover machine at bad times.  Also hopefully over the injury so he can bulk up too.   5) Kon. Just a rookie.  Long season and back injury.  I have no doubt he'll be back stronger and focused.  Needs to work on defense and physicality like the whole team but yes, a rookie he'll get there. 6) Coby.  Has to be resigned, no question.  The bench lineup is rough without him running the point.  Team has big potential and the front office seems sharp.  They seen the hive and how crazy it got and how much the city wants this.
