Trade Deadline Talk

The Dolphins are the example of not tieing a team to an overrated QB who can't carry a team. They were so stacked and watched most of their talent go elsewhere so they could pay a mediocre and hurt starting QB too much money. They looked so good beating up bad teams at their peak and couldn't hang with any of the other playoff bound teams. I wonder if getting tossed aside will wake up their HC or if he continues to struggle elsewhere after his early success.

It would be funny if we weren't doing a weaker and dumber version of their build.

I read the Athletic this morning and Russini says McDaniels is staying. We’ll see.

They are also a prime example of why teams should NOT Tank.

Maybe another year at the rate he is going but I woukd be surprised if it's longer at this point. They are going to have to deal with Tua and start over but their HC seems almost checked out at times. They have had so much talent leave in the last few years Im wondering who they lost in house that made better personnel choices. They were great at talent acquisitions a few years ago but seem to have taken some steps backwards. I don't follow them closely.

They actually came out well except their owner chose the wrong QB and kept doubling down.

Sounds familiar. Almost like Big Daddy Dave.

Pretty much but we still have the weaker one but the crap the Fins owner has done is pretty bad but weirdly competent in flashes. None yet seen for Dave

Exactly, they chose Tua instead of Herbert. Not an indictment of tanking, that’s like us not tanking and getting a 2nd for Burns and trading away our future for Young. If we had actually tanked and trade Moore and Burns early, we’d be a much more talented team. Even more so if we dumped Fitterer et al with Rhule.

    • Those last two plays before the last FG, we could have burned them so hard - but it is risky with even a better QB. But not sure they would have used that strategy against a better QB.  In any case Rico had no hope of breaking through that.
    • One more win and it matches Wilks’ win total, he was the leader of the last 5-6 years. You have to go back to Tepper’s first year where Rivera won 7 to beat it. He won 5 the year he was fired.
    • I watched a clip of all the offensive snaps. Young threw into some tight coverage and the guys made some plays on the ball. He also really missed some throws.  He has this middle of the field thing into a tight window pretty good and made three or four nice plays but he was just too inconsistent with his accuracy especially in the red zone. Today and in general.    That Int where people were chastising Legette for ‘not fighting through the coverage’, he in no way could have gotten to that ball. IMO. I think he thought it was going to hit the ground and didn’t see the defender coming for it. But not sure what he could have done. The camera doesn’t show the spatial relationship very well, I think the ball was way off. maybe 6 feet or more off target to the inside of the field.  Rico is a beast. And a very good receiver.   That was my impression without dissecting and rewinding, just letting the video roll. I did rewind the int two or three times to look at that one.
