I love how Rico runs, but I am not sure he can survive the season at this pace. It is such a difference with Rico is in there, he explodes into the hole. Chuba seems to stutter step into the line.

Not the same back as he was last season

If Rico was performing at an average RB level, I'd agree, but he's our entire offense and producing at a higher level than virtually anyone.

you fix this next year by getting an actual QB, not extending a RB

it is the most easily replaced position in the nfl. you can find them anywhere, as evidence by Rico Dowdle

getting production out of a rb you picked up off the scrap heap is not a reason to sign that player to an extension

thank him for his service, let him walk, get the comp pick, and move on.

didnt we just go through this with foreman? how's he doing? (not in the league anymore)

Foreman looked nothing like Rico, he would have a big game and then would be a dud the next game.

He couldn't make something out nothing, but with some blocking he could break one on you for sure.

Foreman was off the scrap heap, Rico was a 1000 yard back last season after starting as a backup, he's was slept on more than anything.

His play ignites the whole team offense and defense.

You don't just thank a top 5 player at his position for his service and let him walk.

Green Bay was the 3rd ranked rushing defense in the league and couldn't stop him.

Hubbards been great the past few years, but Rico's just on another level and meshes so well with this offense. Rico just attacks and pounds for all the yards he can.

If this team is smart, we get some value out of Hubbard before tuesday for a trade and give Rico Hubbard's contract and then some. Love Chuba for all he's done, but it's clear this team has another RB that's on another level we shouldn't let go of.

Hubbard has always just been OK talent wise but he played hard. For the past two years, just actually giving a poo and trying hard every play made you a fan favorite and a standout. This team was truly just that bad.

I don't know if you ever saw the offseason RB drills in CMC’s last year when Chuba was his backup, but CMC made Chuba and the other RBs look bad. It was clear how much more talented CMC was and obviously that’s silly to say but Rico vs. Chuba looks similar right now. Chuba is a JAG who got a lot of touches with a decent run blocking unit.

Unless Brooks actually shows something, the best bet might be to sign Rico and see if Chuba is willing to stay as the backup for cheaper. If he’s not, get something for him, sign Rico and draft another RB to compete with Brooks and Etienne.

Take a look at the stats when the games finish today.

And that's on 3 starts.

like what stats what are you talking about. 3 starts is called a limited sample size. that doesn't make someone top 5 at their position.

let me put this another way

next season the panthers are going to have to extend ikey, get an entire linebacking corps (only one under contract is tevin wallace), pay chuba his 7.5 million they can't get out of, and address the qb position.

rico is going to want more than Chuba got. where is that money going to come from?

and you just extended a RB to have him turn into a pumpkin. But this time it'll be different because...

Rico is the focal point of an offense that scored 13 points before the final play of the 4th quarter. who cares.

They need to play ettiene more. Chuba is til toeing for some reason. It looks like he lost confidence or something

yea I mean He sat there and watch Rico do a better job than he can do and had to take a back seat. That in itself is a confidence killer.

    • I watched a clip of all the offensive snaps. Young threw into some tight coverage and the guys made some plays on the ball. He also really missed some throws.  He has this middle of the field thing into a tight window pretty good and made three or four nice plays but he was just too inconsistent with his accuracy especially in the red zone. Today and in general.    That Int where people were chastising Legette for ‘not fighting through the coverage’, he in no way could have gotten to that ball. IMO. I think he thought it was going to hit the ground and didn’t see the defender coming for it. But not sure what he could have done. The camera doesn’t show the spatial relationship very well, I think the ball was way off. maybe 6 feet or more off target to the inside of the field.  Rico is a beast. And a very good receiver.   That was my impression without dissecting and rewinding, just letting the video roll. I did rewind the int two or three times to look at that one.
    • My biggest issue with keeping Darnold, which I felt we should have done, is we would still have Fitterer. And everything that came with that.  I think Morgan is going to be good.  Baker, just did not play well at all here. Not sure what else we were supposed to take away from it at the time.  That’s my short ‘I don’t want to argue about it’ take.
    • Even if we somehow make the playoffs we will be one and done so fast. Seattle, Rams, TB, Panthers, Detroit and Philly are all better than us.
