I could still see there season imploding and the jags grabbing that spot

They have a real tough schedule the rest of the season, play the Falcons overseas next week, but after that, their easiest games left would be against the Texans or Jags, no cupcakes left

100%. They basically have the offense we wish we had. They're entirely reliant on Jonathan Taylor making it run. If he goes down they're probably cooked. If they have to lean on Jones it'll probably get ugly fast.

NFL trade deadline is more like an NBA one this year.  Jeeez

I've long thought the NFL overvalues draft picks. Like I get it, the draft is by far your best bet at landing talent at a value but at the same time, it's also a crap shoot. If you can land solid proven vet talent with one of those long shot mid-round picks that's probably a smart move especially if you're a good team with an obvious hole or two. The Rams built a SB team and still have a good team by treating premium draft picks largely as pure trade bait.

Apparently the extension he signed before the season was also a little weird, as it had a very low signing bonus.

So the Jets have a very small dead cap hit despite trading a big contract that was signed just 2 months ago.

I guess it was only a $13 million signing bonus, and trading him mid-season means it's something around only a $10 million dead cap hit left to take.

This is a huge win for the Jets for a player I've long felt was overrated because of a great nickname and an amazing rookie season that he's then failed to fully live up to since them.  Combine that with everyone knowing the Colts seem more mirage then legit long term contender, that 2027 1st in particular could end up being a really good asset for the Jets.

Definitely isn't overrated. Dude gets the Horn treatment and then some - being on the Jets, teams just don't risk throwing his way when the Jets offense is ass and 10 points likely wins the game for you.

That's what I thought too but I just talked to my NY buddy (albeit a Giants fan not Jets) and evidently Sauce has been getting killed by local media this year. Evidently he's fallen off considerably.

That trade for sauce seems like a much bigger blunder then when shitterer said we were a player away and traded for Gilmore

Interesting. Haven't watched a bunch of the Jets but almost seems like they are expecting him to have like 8+ INTs a year when the dude might be thrown at 25 times in a season...

    • It's crazy with how much winning was going on when we had a little cool off period that we're still just a couple games out of 6th. Moussa is getting better every week and Coby is getting comfortable. Would be nice to get to 6 but I think this team is a lot more stacked than the last couple play ins. I can't remember the exact rules but if you're 7th seed and win the first game I think you automatically move on and don't have to play the second game?
    • I think it was a thing for sure. Panthers weren’t too many people’s first choice. Or 5th choice.  2022 and 2023… coaches fired mid season. Consecutive years. You want any of that?  He has definitely overseen a rehab of how the Panthers are perceived. Because we are a place that is seen as up and coming. And just the little thing of he accommodated Theilen so graciously, that gets noticed. It all adds up. Dan is doing a lot of things right, probably most things.  Needs a good draft.
    • K, I think that is dumb, but you do you. I didn't find anything online that made him out to be a dislikable person. I am certain the Panthers would have cared so much if they lost your fandom if they hired Sean Payton. But bet you would have come crawling back if Sean lead us to a Super Bowl victory or Golden leads UNC to a champion ship. It is easy to say you are gonna leave a team if the hire someone you dislike when the chips are down. But people like you tend to come crawling back once the team finds success.
