Why do people think Bryce Young won this game yesterday?

And yet some of the completions he made were amazing, including some made under heavy pressure.

Do I want Bryce as the "franchise" quarterback? Not convinced...

But I'm gonna make that decision based on an honest assessment, not a biased one.

That’s the problem with him. A lot of bad throws, then he has some spurts where he makes good throws. Drives me crazy.

He also escapes pressure pretty well. But ultimately the QBs job is to move the ball and he struggles with that.

Dowdle also had some receptions, as did the receivers (naturally).

Did they throw those passes to themselves?

Yes Bryce made those passes. I think Dowdle is a great receiver, for a RB. Those aren’t what Ike call tough throws though. Little swing passes and screens. Pretty much right in Bryce’s wheelhouse.

Bryce Young had a bad game. It happens.

Contributions?  Sure he contributed. So did JT Sanders. I don't see you taking up the mantle of his protector.

I've legit said he had some good plays but had a bad game overall. You're being intellectually dishonest by insisting that a bad game was somehow a good one, when I know you've seen enough football to recognize bad football.

Yes, it happens. I've seen plenty of them.

Yesterday wasn't one of them.

It certainly wasn't a great game, it wasn't even a very good game, but even if it only reached "good" level by a slim margin, it did reach.

Still think Bryce's future is as a good backup, but even that accepts that he can win games.

I don't think we'll agree here. I am not some huge Bryce hater but I think yesterday was bad. But we won't end up agreeing and no reason to keep going back and forth.  Hopefully he plays better ultimately regardless of what we think of yesterday

It is ok to agree to disagree Mr. Scot. You generally add a lot to this board. I myself have seen enough of Bryce to believe we need an upgrade at QB. He is who he is at this point and is a huge limiting factor in how effective our offense can be.

I posted a longer analysis yesterday that basically sums up thusly:

His future is as a quality backup. He's not consistent enough to remain a regular starter If we want to be a contender.

Yesterday didn't change that take.

What is the same, tired pattern here?  Vintage lil' Brycey... short passes to the middle of the field.  Nothing deep, except the pick, horrible on the sidelines unless it's under 10 yards.  Folks this isn't rocket science, he's not a legit starting NFL QB.

Would you deny that he did enough for us to win?

He didn't lose us the game. Did JT Sanders do enough for us to win?  In the sense the team won, I think the players did enough for us to win, Bryce included. Do I think Bryces game, in it's totality, was one of the main factors in our victory?  No.

Essentialy a West Coast Offense style quarterback...

We knew that before he was drafted.

he made two good throws on the final drive but that’s it

I’m guessing losing so much has dropped the standard for what is acceptable from a nfl qb, but the posters trying to rage bait guys who not only backup their concerns for the poor qb play with stats and proof, feels like some weird paradox

You can enjoy a panthers victory without trying to justify 102 passing yards as acceptable, let alone sub 200 yards passing week in and out, I feel like I’m in the twilight zone that this even needs to be discussed
