I'll be cool with that because it means we would be taking a QB in the '27 draft assuming we have a bridge-type backup.  That guy needs to be found this offseason though.  Dalton needs to ride off into the sunset.

Young should be the bridge qb. They should be looking for the future guy right now.

You people love to make poo up. It’s laughable.

I mean, there is no way to know if that is what Carolina is doing or not without them acknowledging it...

but it's not really laughable to suggest something we know happens in the NFL could be happening here.   Bryce does have a habit of killing plays early.  There is a stat that backs him killing more plays bailing on them than virtually everyone else in the league. Which would support the suggestion that he largely has his throw he is supposed to take.

No way we keep him on the roster if he's not the long-term starter.  He's either the guy or he's gone.  I know Bryce is a 'team guy', but asking him to backup as our former #1 pick because we are taking another 1st round QB is well beyond awkward.

Oh, you don't ask him to be the backup.  He is just a warm body until you make your move for your QB.  If it's a draft pick, you go sign a legit experienced vet to coach him up in the QB room.  Maybe you ask him to start a couple games.

No, the most Panthers outcome would be a Murray/Tua-like extension after a completely mediocre year 4

Panthers aren’t going to moonwalk into another losing record and first round loss at home with Bryce Ball next season. Everything is just as likely to go wrong as everything went right this season. Even a simple regression to the mean costs this team games.

Panthers finished their last five games with as many losses as bryce had shitty passes on his final drive. He and Canales whimpered into the off-season.

Low info fans can cloak themselves and narratives and instagram hype videos from 1000 follower accounts all offseason. This isn’t a team built to compete this season in dogshit division and they’ve already committed to the thing holding them back the most.

I’m sure when they go 5-12 next year it’ll be everyone’s fault except the two most obvious culprits. Evero has to be kept just so dumb low information fans can blame the best coach on the team.

Who is your bridge QB--uh, I mean, backup for next season then?

this exact same team could play a tougher schedule and have 6 wins.

this exact same team this season could of had the ball bounce the other way in close games and had 6 wins.

for the fans, a playoff game was cool.....but that shouldn't erase the fact we were a bottom tier offense and not a very good team.

8-9 regular season finish.  A game at the end of the season vs the Rams where you lead in the 4th quarter and lost a close one.....I mean, that's also a description of the Falcons.  Who blew it up.

100%.  Simple reversion to the mean leaves this team around 5 wins.  The division won't be as bad next year.  We won't get the same breaks.  Making the playoffs with -70 point differential.

That was the equivalent of Bryce's 2015.  We just saw the best possible outcome.

To end 2025 Byoung was ranked 22nd in total QBR by qualifying QBs in the nfl.  Depending how much faith you put into stats year 3 byoung is a below average nfl starting qb but not the worse in the league.  This was a wierd in general I felt like most passing offenses were down. But I do feel his QBR has him rated at pretty much the correct spot I feel he is somewhere between the 20th to 25th best QB in the nfl going into year 4.  HIs QBR through the years 34.1, 50.7, 48.8 so his QBR fell this year compared to last.  His yards per game went up from 171.6 last year to 188.2 this year..all the stats kinda showing he is who he is a 20th to 25th best qb in the nfl below average nfl starter

A lot of qbs got benched this year (Russell Wilson, everyone in Oakland) or got hurt. Probably should only compare him to the qbs that played over 13 starts or whatever.

I felt like the QB play in the NFL declined as far as the bottom third guys go. Seems like the floor to be number 30 was just lower. No numbers to back it up just my impression.

Came to post this, hit the 4 minute mark and Simms says something I found interesting that sounds like he has a source, I hadn’t heard anyone say this before.. but it is just a line or two in the conversation of how they reevaluated the team following the season and playoff loss.
I didn’t get to see the game so I am hitting the Monday morning analysis and recaps from lots of places and came across it.
