Trevor Lawrence available next year?

Are they really? Anyone got links to any sources or is this just wishful thinking?

I would rather have Stroud. I don't think he is the Texans problem and I think he is being wasted there. The moves they have made after his rookie year leads me to think they may be dumb enough to dump him to try and save their jobs. Even then, it shouldn't be a thing. I don't see the same situation as with the Jags with a first year HC.

You do know Trevor has less passing touchdown, more turnovers and a worst passer rating and comp% than Bryce? Lol

And he has Coen who has proven to better than Canales and BTJ who is ten times better than any of our WR.

And you think it’s a bright idea to trade and pay him 50 mill a year

BTJ has played bad this year though.  Leads NFL in drops as well.  Trevor’s played better than his stats show.   But he has always been scatter brained since Clemson

Trevor has accuracy problems that really stall the Jags, even when they're running well.  The people frustrated with Bryce would be going crazy once they have to consistently watch Trevor.

We'd need someone else on staff to help him than this DC/Idzik pair.  Not sure their system really benefits Trevor at all.

That being said, if they're willing to deal, he fits the prototype of the comeback/project type that people have enjoyed watching.  Would be a big $$$ hit, unsure if we're the right destination but could be interesting.

Trevor is basically a lab created perfect QB physically…,,but with a PJ Walker operating system controlling it

Yeah, he is one of the biggest QB busts of my lifetime watching the NFL. Not because he's JaMarcus/Leaf terrible because he was one of the rare "generational" tag guys that ended up being a significantly below average NFL starter.

I have always had the sneaking suspicion that he doesn't really have the passion for football at the NFL level.

Trevor has regressed at an alarming speed. You can see Coen visibly frustrated with him during games. Reminds me of Steichen on the sidelines with AR.

I will admit that Trevor, although a definite upgrade, would be 100x more infuriating because he literally has zero reason to be as bad as he is. He has almost every elite box checked outside athlete and brain.

The Panthers are going to go after a vet QB in the offseason and I doubt it is Lawrence.  With jobs on the line, the staff and coaches will not want to wait for another rookie QB to develop.  My guess is the Panthers overpay for Mac Jones and they end up with the New England version instead of the San Fran version.

Overpaying for Jones would be a trade and that would be lightspeed stupid.

Also, there isn't a dramatic difference between the New England, Jacksonville and SF versions of Mac Jones. The biggest differences are Kyle Shanahan and the SF roster versus the poo he had with New England and Jax.

Holy crap you aren't kidding. 15% drop rate, only a 50% catch rate. What's going on with him?  Approximately the same targets per game but a huge drop in production... I haven't really paid any attention but that's an insane drop off.

    • Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.
    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
