Wilson was good with an elite roster around him but none of those guys were anywhere close to Brees.

Both Brees and Wilson in their prime had significantly more strength than Bryce Young has. They also hit the weight room. In three years Bryce has made no attempt.

Wilson was illogically aggressive, but it worked for him somehow. Lucky sob.
Brees is head and shoulders above that guy. He could dissect you.

True.  Bree’s is a legit all timer.  But a I think old Brees makes some forget about just how willing he to was back a defense off his game going deep.

He made his receivers better.
Wilson’s receivers made him better.

I (a Panther fan) couldn’t stand Brees. Which might tell you how good he was.

Wilson is such a weird one.   He had a historical D.  Great run game.  Really really good WR that made great catches deep.

No clue how good prime Wilson really was.

I guess I am biased because we were playing against him and I understand he paid huge dividends for Seattle with a 3rd round investment. But I watched him and always thought he just lucky as hell when it came down to it.

He’d have retired on the flight to Carolina.

Yeah he wasn't playing here.  Pretty sure he told them he wasn't.  If by some miracle he did, he was just be on IR here with our OL back then.

I heard, I believe it Stafford himself said the following. Once the Lions GM told him they had a deal was in place to be traded to Carolina, he personally called Rams GM Les Snead and told him "Do whatever you have to do right now or I will be traded to panthers". Within the next 2-3 hours Rams and Lions worked out the trade and he was a Rams like he wanted.... Panthers had his meds and papers were needed to be signed, it was 99% done...

This is why I partly don't bust up Tepper more, they where trying to land a legit NFL QB for years....Just after the 2 and 5 win seasons no QBs wanted to play here.....this was after he told every employee for dang near two years Watson would be a panther.......shocking the full guarantee made him walk away....then he forced Fineererererererererererererererer to trade up for the #1 pick and dig that hole that Matt Rhule leftd much deeper....

Now just now the digging has stopped with this 2025 led draft class...

He was the upgraded version of Donovan McNabb, IMO. Guys that extended plays until people got open. Wilson also had arguably the greatest deep ball of the past 25 years or so. The accolades(10x Pro Bowl, 1x SB Champ) and statistics(Top 15 in Passing Yards and TD's in NFL history) of his career make him a relatively safe HOF candidate.

There is certainly the argument to be made that he was the product of a very favorable situation but there are several HOF QB's that could be said for.

You rarely ever get to see guys in an apples to apples situation to know who was truly better than who.
