He isn't the odds on favorite for MVP.

So is it the other guy that we let go that year?

Which I didn’t care about then but it is funny now

Edit time out. Apparently you could be talking Drake Maye.. man the people we have missed because we were tied to Bryce Young

From CBS Sports

This week's front-runner is Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (+275), who soared into the lead behind a 280-yard, four-TD performance in a 42-26 victory over the NFC West rivals San Francisco 49ers. Stafford now has 25 passing touchdowns against just two interceptions while completing 67.1% of his passes. He is followed in the MVP odds by Patriots QB Drake Maye (+300), Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (+475), Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (+600) and Bills signal-caller Josh Allen (+700)

Did we release Matt Stafford?

Ya'll do watch the NFL, right?

This is a guy that would be a good option to bring in as a 3rd stringer to potentially compete in camp.

Throwing eggs in that basket to sign as a starter for 2026 should basically get a lot of people fired for the suggestion.

Signing an old retread to be the starter is about as uninspiring as watching paint dry.

You have a true QB competition and let the chips fall where they may.

That's why I want to bring in a good/solid veteran backup and either a bust QB like Lance/Wilson/Howell/etc or a rookie QB.

Get some options and see what happens.

No but we could have had him if tepper wasn't poison. At the time (not now because Goff has been great) the Panthers offered a better trade package but Stafford said fug that noise and the Lions respected him enough to not send him to this hell hole.

    • I can’t wait until we never have to hear about Bryce’s 2024 late season surge. Looked like complete poo against the Bucs and Cowboys, beat up a down bad cardinals team and a falcons team actively trying to get their defensive coordinator fired (he was)
    • The book is 80% written by Izzy. the chapters where he confesses are very difficult to read because the guy is so fuging full of poo. It just drips off the page. the book was published by one of those shitty self finance publishing houses. It wasn’t even edited. It reads like at one point it was a screenplay. Izzy wanted the book because she was starting her career as an evangelical motivational speaker, and she needed someone to sign after her speeches. Canales was already an evangelical motivational speaker when all these events happened. You get the sense him paying for this book was part of an agreement between the two. They’re both grifters, it’s just one of them grifted one guy worth billions. Also Dave Canales and Brad Idzik know each other in the biblical sense.
    • I think the writing is on the wall with Bryce and you can tell by the play calling. Canales does not trust Bryce.  We ride the running backs or die. Funny Bryce showed promise at the end of the season last year. But he somehow quickly loses confidence and goes Back to the same mentality of not wanting to make mistakes. Then he makes them. They have to bring in a vet next season and draft a WB in the mid rounds.
