Will 5-6 wins be enough for Canales to keep his job?

You think he’s still a lock if they lose the rest of their games? Schedule is BRUTAL and I’d wager Bryce turns back into a pumpkin next week

Frankly he's more likely to lose his job if we lose out and Bryce DOESNT turn into a pumpkin.

If Bryce goes back to how he's been most of this year, Canales definitely comes back, so long as the team still fights hard.

This board tells me BY9 is the worst QB in the NFL, biggest bust of all time, and there are multiple backups out there better than him. If that’s true Canales has us with a winning record and in playoff contention mid November. Yes he absolutely is our coach.

I’d have to put it this way. Which one has more to overcome? Bryce overcoming Canales’ limitations, or Canales overcoming Bryce’s?
My opinion says the latter is most likely.

That fight is one of my biggest gripes with Canales. They’ve been dogged in some games and the team looks like they just give up, aside from looking very unprepared for a few games this year. Even today it seemed like after the first offensive drive they were searching for answers.

I’m not campaigning for Canales to be fired or anything but if the team loses the rest of their games, regardless of how Bryce looks, it would be a bad look either way.

Just last week we saw the team lay a dud of all duds against the one of if not the worst team in the NFL then all of a sudden we’re confident in them beating one of the NFC West juggernauts? Can’t play the Falcons every week who probably would have won if Penix didn’t get knocked out.

I think this team is obviously better than last year and that probably gets Canales another year, but there’s still a lot to be said about this season as they play contender after contender from here on out except for the Saints in the dome which is a tough game regardless of their record. They could easily lose the rest of their games and that would be OH so Panthers.

SF might be beatable. I doubt we have much shot vs Seattle or LA Rams.

In SF on MNF

CMC is about to put a Smitty like beating on us with that kind of stage, not sure how beatable they're going to be with him doing that.

SF is very very good, Panthers will be humbled in prime time. The rest of the schedule is going to be very hard.

If darnold throws 4 picks we might have a chance. No way in fug we are beating the rams

It is an away 1pm start for a WC team so we will have that goi g for us. It is hard t9 gauge this team week to week and I think without pressure Darnold is pretty efficient. And we get very little pressure.

I need to look at the up down up down home away juju. Just saying SF has been beatable this year.

I get that, and all I'm saying is I feel like CMC is going to take this game personally and on the big MNF stage, is going to put an ass whopping on us.

I'm still of the belief that a healthy and motivated CMC is still the best non QB in the entire NFL

Yes probably. I think Canales could be really good with “his guy”

I think I under appreciated him when he was here because he was maybe misused and overused and hurt a good bit.

edit in fact my first reaction to he will kick our ass, is will he play.

Think about how batshitt crazy Tepper would look like if he fired Canales. The die hard fans are much more critical on Canales since we watch every game, but from an outside perspective the average fan sees Carolina as a team who has vastly improved and should be ecstatic with what Canales has accomplished with this team. When was the last time we had 6 wins at this point of the season? Is Canales perfect? No. But he’s 100% safe. It shouldn’t even be a thought

Remove the big games by Rico Dowdle and I’d argue the offense is exactly the same as last year. The defense has improved a little which isn’t saying much considering they were the worst in the NFL last year.

    • DC is not perfect by any means and it is INFURIATING the inconsistency shown this season so far but if they stay strong down the stretch and either just slip into playoffs or just miss them you got to give him another year to see if they make the next step.  You want to see progress year over year and I believe we are. His play calling has been dictated by what he has at QB which we talked about ad nauseam. When BY makes bone head decision or has his multiple turnover games you start to lose trust in him no matter what the "coach talk" he says in press conferences. I would vote to keep DC for another year with a retooled QB room and see what happens.
    • We have the toughest remaining schedule in the league, so we'll see where we go from here. If he could do that to the #1 pass defense in the league, there's no reason he can't keep doing it.
    • This is what he does, I'm always happy when the Panthers win and will give BY his props for balling today. Unfortunately BY is like a crazy partner who does nothing but gaslight you into thinking that they are good enough for you, in reality they're not. He's a backup NFL QB in my eyes and idk if he could do anything short of a SB win to change my mind at this point.  CONSISTENCY is the name of the game, are you there day in and day out. That answer so far is also NO. #nevermyQB
