SI: Time For Panthers to Move On From Bryce Young - Bryce is statistically the worst QB in the NFL since being drafted.

It's about time the media starts putting pressure on the Panthers about the obvious.

I think it's the only thing that will save us from Tepper. Canales seems like a buddy boss, "yes" man type. He ain't gonna do it(although technically he already did once).

I think Dan is just going to do whatever Tepper wants without a strong enough opinion. No evidence for that other than just working in this environment there for a few yeara and surviving. That doesn't strike me as much more than a "not rocking the boat" accomplishment.

I don't really care, because like I've been saying we aren't picking up the option and he's probably gone after the season, but it's actually interesting that so many people still defend him.

Are they Bama fans? Panthers haters who blame all his failures on the organization? Not even football fans who think he's a nice guy? I honestly don't get how anyone could see what we've all seen the last three years and think he's a good QB.

"Nice guy" has thirty million plus in the bank and got to start in the NFL for three years. I don't feel sorry for him. He will be fine and has no financial worries for the rest of his life.

I'll still believe it when I see it as far as them moving on (next year). He'll be here to play out his contract unless some needy team tricks themselves into trading for him, but you cannot pick up the 5th year option.

I think next year is Bryce, FA/vet acquisition, and a rookie. It should be an open competition in camp and preseason, and let the chips fall where they may.

I know Jameis gets a lot of hate (justifiably) for his turnovers and dumb decisions, but we 1000% are a better team with him at QB right now...and even next year. Give me that goober and our record isn't any worse, and is likely better.

I will say I wish I was as confident as you are that we aren't picking up his option.

I have this recurring nightmare that we keep rolling Young out there for 2 more seasons, watching all the same mistakes, and hearing about big-time throws, and how he doesn't have any weapons, or needs better blockers, over and over.

Yeah. I have seen even in this thread people opining that the coach isn’t right for him. Stuff like that.
Afraid they will go down that road and we are left with Bryce and a new college whiz kid and new college offense. Just like he had at Alabama.
Until he is gone I will never really not have that fear.

lol you’re not a fan if you don’t think Bryce is the guy. That’s what was said last week. None of them posters are here, or will be here this week.

Line of thinking never made sense. The ones who were down on Bryce keep this place running. They post no matter what. The Bryce guys go ghost, and stop talking panther football when Bryce has a dud. That’s not very fan-like.

I know. Like all these illogical "player only" fans we get on and off over the years. Like that lightspeed idiot @PantherChris getting up in his feels about Cam Newton talking down about the Pats because he is a UNC simp.

Real Panther fans don't hide when the poo is bad. We don't get scarce when the chips are down. It's all part of being a real fan.

Like that poor viral video Jets fan a few weeks ago. I also hate this fuging team, but I will be a fan through and through.

An article from SI shared by @Gregg S in another thread that deserved a closer look.  Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t.

https://www.si.com/nfl/time-for-panthers-to-move-on-from-bryce-young

Young was brilliant against the Falcons in a 30–27 overtime win last weekend, throwing for 448 yards and three touchdowns. In his other 10 starts, Young has 1,673 yards with 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions on 5.6 YPA.

Ultimately, none of it matters if Canales and general manager Dan Morgan can’t find better play at the game’s paramount position. Going into Monday night, Young had started 38 games (playing in 40). His career EPA is -269.1. For comparison, the embattled Tua Tagovailoa has started 39 games over that same span. His EPA is 123.1.

Since Young entered the NFL in 2023, he ranks 32nd of 32 qualifying quarterbacks (minimum of 900 plays) in EPA + CPOE at 0.029. He’s also last in success rate (41.9%) and EPA per play (-0.074). In short, he’s the worst quarterback in football since joining the NFL after starring at Alabama.

I Want More GIF

I just want to see everyone jump on that train by the end of the year. Replace and not competition. We all have seen more than enough and I don't even want to ever see him again. Well I am watching the next game just so I can witness football murder.

This. fug competition. Let Bryce walk, sign a legit vet maybe even two then keep options open in the draft.

I like the way the Giants handled this past off-season at the QB position. First they signed Jameis. Then they added Russell Wilson when the opportunity arose. Then they still drafted Dart in the late 1st. They gave themselves three legit chances at QB and fortunately for them the young one on a rookie contract is the cream that rose to the top. That's the type of approach we need to take this off-season. Put a lot hooks in the water without sacrificing a ton of assets and see what we can land.

Yeah, it's a mess, and I have no faith that we won't make it an even bigger mess this off-season.

You're not wrong. I mean, would it be shocking at all to see the Panthers finally give up on Bryce and then trading real assets for say Mac Jones and signing him long-term? That feels like a very Tepper's Panthers type move.
