Is Sellars not coming out this year?  If not, sign Lance and draft Mendoza.  See if the Browns would trade Shedeur.

Mendoza will go top 5 overall and likely QB1.  We have zero shot at him.  Most of the top tier underclassmen are leaning going back to school.  Nothing official yet as the season is still obviously ongoing, but from insider reports i seen suggests it shakes out this way.

I don't completely blame Canales or Morgan for this problem . It was Tepper's decision to draft Young .  He fired Reich when he could not make it work .  Morgan has done a decent job in bringing in players to give Young all the tools and Young still can't do the job .  Canales has tried to give him every opportunity to succeed .  Tepper should admit the mistake and let Morgan and Dave choose the next QB .

If everyone goes back to school this year, 2027 will set up for a great QB class.

This QB class is going to be full of the senior guys that disappointed like Nussmier, Klubnik, Allar.  Beck didn't disappoint, but I think he's propped up by a stacked Miami roster just like he was propped up in Georgia.  Then you have the lesser known/lesser hyped guys like Sorsby, Robertson, Aguilar, Pavia, Chambliss, Green and Daniels.

This a good drat to find a developmental backup, but not a starter.

Every year there are QBs nobody is talking about that come out and play well. Nobody ever knows unless Andrew Luck shows up again....just take the shot on it if it's there.

I feel like there are guys on rosters now that most of us don’t know about who would be a slight upgrade at worst.

the problem?  We SHOULD have been developing a qb as the backup every year until we had our guy.  Bryce is an entitled puss who has never been more than a game manager--always surrounded by talent that dwarfs most of his opponents.

I don’t think he is a pussy but otherwise you got it. Always had the benefit of superior talent around him.
I mean, you want to get the best people you can. People better than you if you can get them And he had that.

I’d take Jayden Maiava with a day 2 pick and sit him for a year or two. I love his potential and make-up. There’s a lot to love there….and also enough that needs polish and time to acclimate.

Give me a “Canales” type vet on a 2-year deal to bridge the gap until Maiava is ready to start. IMO, a guy like Geno, Jameis, or Daniel Jones is here this year and we’re more of a 8-4 team than 6-6.

I know they both didn’t live in HI at the same time but the respect he and TMac would have for one another could create a wonderful connection long-term.

If we are truly moving on from Bryce, I would trade for Jameis, draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd, and use the rest of the draft on OL and LB.

NO, NO, NO. If Jameis isn't available as a free agent the last thing we need to do is trade assets.

Howell, IMO,is the most intriguing FA.

He’s one of the guys I’ve been keeping an eye on. Has a lot of traits, the size, and arm. He’s made iffy decisions at times but the skills are there. The baseline is nice.

    • Like who? We have had far more leave and not pan out than vice versa.
    • My point is they are not going to make a bad hire, in all likelihood. Evero may or may not be a serious candidate for him. Like it or not, many teams interview certain coaches to check the rooney rule box. But if he is a serious candidate and they do hire him it means there's something there we probably don't see. I HATE Evero's scheme and playcalling decisions, but that doesn't mean he couldn't be a good/great HC. They are ultimately 2 different jobs, especially if as HC he let his DC call the plays.   Maybe you're right about Tomlin but I don't get that vibe personally. I doubt they'd have fired him this year, maybe he saw writing on the wall for the following year but based on comments from Steelers ownership I think they were happy with him having them competitive every year, even with the playoff losing. I mean all Tomlin really needed to break through in the playoffs IMO was a QB. Harbaugh got fired (mutual*) because they couldn't break through again despite having a probably future HoF QB and multiple time MVP.    I think Tomlin wanted a break and a change himself. I think he'll go back to coaching in a year or 2, but isn't waiting for the right opportunity just actually wants a break and a less stressful media job for now to kinda reset. Also wonder if he was getting frustrated at how the Steelers' FO kept approaching the QB position recently.
    • Green Bay may very well open up after next season. I agree, I think he will likely choose a spot with a settled QB situation. He thrived with that in Pittsburgh but he had to scrap hard to make do with the parade of misfit QB's since Roethlisberger retired.
