Money makes people do foolish things but with Hubbard already getting paid I don't see it happening from any angle.

He damn sure isn't giving this team a discount. Plus the text leads me to think he is already looking forward forward

I am fine paying him some money. We literally built that offense to be a power rushing offense.

So, why we suddenly go pass happy is a fuging mystery to me.

With Young and Canales, this team has both arms tied behind their back. Hard to win when the two most important parts of a football team fail. A running team getting 4.75 yards a carry that doesn't run the ball. Putting the game on a QB who is constantly inconsistent and expecting good things.

This is kind of what I mean. It's the sams parade of excuses Bryce has gotten. They are just +1 years ahead.

This is where basically everyone is going to be about Canales next season.

I see your level of annoyance. I just don’t see the same level of commitment to the cause.
I don’t know who is a 100% go down with the ship Canales stan.

You might think I am because I try to be patient about it but you would be wrong.

I think you know. Apparently winning is secondary to Bryce’s development. Same as it has been.

In a way it may be good because we didn’t need to make the playoffs and extend this fuging charade about Bryce being the guy. Better in the long run if he gets enough rope to hang himself with.

Pretty obvious people on mint wanted Bryce to have a big performance on prime time.

Exactly this. Either by mandate or his own doing, Canales’ job is not trying to win football games, it’s trying to make Bryce look competent, but the 2 are mutually exclusive. One is very doable, the other is completely impossible.

I refuse to give him the out that he is just that dumb because nobody is that dumb. I also refuse to believe that Rico didn’t approach him on the sidelines to voice his frustrations, which if so, obviously didn’t get him anywhere.

For all the Bryce apologists, the Canales apologists are almost worse.

I don’t think Canales has a lot of real big support at all.   I think his “supporters” are at the most extreme really just luke warm at best with him.

but Bryce Young is his QB.  Bryce made the John Fox of offensive coaching Frank Reich look unqualified to coach a 8 year old girls rec flag football team.

I gotta be honest, this feels like more than just bad coaching. This feels like proving a point. I'm really beginning to wonder if the only way to get Bryce off this team is to prove he can't step up when it matters. No coach can really be this stupid can they?

I've said for a long time there appears to be some sort of mandate from higher up that is forcing Bryce into the starting role and keeping him there regardless of what any metric or eye test says. Now whether that's Morgan or Tepper at this point, this feels like Canales may be trying to prove that Atlanta is the anomaly, Bryce isn't the guy, and he needs a new QB, and the only way to show that is to get humiliated on prime time, since the only thing Tepper seems to respond to is national embarrassment.

Of course, I could be 4d chessing this thing way too much, and if I am, maybe I should be the next HC for 50m bucks. If I'm wrong and Canales really is this stupid, lawd help us all.

this is my hope, prove it to Big Tep BY ain't it, so in the off season you can show why you need to move on

Well. I think I'm done with the offensive minded head coach experiment.

Let's get a hard nosed defensive minded head coach in here and let him hire his own offensive coordinator.

You were a Wilks guy right? I was too. There is a difference in attitude between defense and offense.
I know there are several excellent offensive minded guys doing a great job it is just a bias I have, that I admit. I grew up a fan of hard nosed ball and great defense.

I'm not a Canales supporter. I have no idea what to make of him at all. I'd like to see him for a few games without Bryce or Dalton. I don't know how you call a decent game with either of those 2. The worst starting QB in the NFL over the past 3 years and the guy the guy backing him up. Design a game plan around that poo.

I would rather pay him than Hubbard but I still doubt they cough up enough to keep him and Hubbard. If Rico is smart he eill get paid and pick a contender.

It's not mystery. It's been DC's MO since he became an OC. He wants to pass first and it puts him into a corner when he neglects the running game too much. Add in the Young drama and it just looks worse than his usual.

It seems like the only time he gets heavy with the run is when the QB forces him to. And it should have the other night.

I know this sounds like reaching, but I had the same thought.
