Derrick Brown Snubbed

Recommended Posts

Pro Bowl has been an absolute joke for like 15 years now. Absolute scrubs get in every year when the initial dumbass voting happens and more especially when damn near every player picked initially and many of the replacements back out. fuging Tyler Huntley was a "pro bowler." And Luke won DROY without making the pro bowl.

So this doesn't surprise me one bit and I don't care about it either.

I always feel like the Pro Bowl to a large extent rewards so many guys for the prior season vs the current one.   It's really weird.  DB missing last season really hurting him.

we have seen that before with DB.  Dominate season.  No Pro Bowl.  Catches it the next year.

My general observations:

  • 6 Ravens selected. Why? They're not even that good this year.
  • Only Jags player to get picked was their long snapper. That's insane for one of the better teams in the AFC this year.
  • Travis Kelce making it is a joke at this point. He's a shell of his former self. Swifties voting I guess.
  • Glad to see both Maxx Crosby and Brock Bowers make it for the Raiders despite the team being so awful. Both are top-3 players at their positions for sure.
  • Who the hell is Drew Dalman?
  • The Vikings being shut out is kind of crazy. Not their best year but there is a good amount of talent on that team.
  • I'm positive the Panthers would have been shutout if not for Jaycee Horn having so many INTs.
  • Derrick Brown is better than every DT that made it (on both sides) with the possible exception of Jalen Carter.

We all know he deserves it but it was also pointed out that he’d need to post 7 or more sacks prior to selection in order to get the recognition.  Hes got 5.  He’ll probably end up with 6-7.

Doesn't matter tho, we know what we got.

It's a  popularity contest unless you have some crazy stats.  Positions like DT are not going to pop with sacks or tackles so arguably the best defensive tackle in the game gets snubbed because he's on a team that doesn't get a lot of national media coverage.

It matters to him financially, I hate it for him

    • We agree here dawg. I'd love for Bryce to succeed as would all huddlers. I have not seen a single huddler hate Bryce for anything other than his play on the field / potential / skillset. He hasn't gotten any of the irrational hate having nothing to do with football that Cam got. And yeah I understood going into this season with Bryce again as there weren't a ton of options, but man we missed the fuging mark on upgrading at backup QB with someone who could actually push Bryce. Bryce had zero pressure on him with a 100% washed up Dalton being the only other NFL caliber QB in the system. That absolutely needs to change this offseason. Ideally with an actual starter upgrade but that seems extremely unlikely due to not having many FA options and a bad draft. But at the very least with someone like you mentioned, young/upside and/or day 3 pick in the draft.   Another note, we have a top paid and top performing OL, great young talent at WR incl. likely OROY, great RB group, average all around TE group, offensive coach with creativity in the system and good play designs (poor situational playcalling but still I put out current offensive coaching staff over Shula who held Cam back for instance). Not the absolute best situation for a QB to be in, but still a very good situation around him. And yet we have a bottom 8 offense (6th lowest points scored). Imagine taking a victory lap for a QB leading his team to the 6th lowest points scored in the league and the 22nd highest passer rating (despite being asked to do less than many other QBs; i.e. Bo Nix who isn't great either and has a slightly lower passer rating but Sean Payton actually lets him try to throw the ball deep and has him throw significantly more than Bryce). Crazy
    • similar to Atlanta and the NHL.  Atlanta has lost two NHL teams (and lost a minor leaguer).  Now there's another coalition pulling together another proposal for Atlanta to get an NHL expansion. While I'd like hockey to be back in Atlanta 'cause hockey is fun, I am skeptical that it'll happen based on previous teams' experience here alternatively: similar to Atlanta hosting a Major Tennis Tournament in advance of the US Open every mid/late summer.  Aside from the fact that Atlanta is said to be the country's largest Tennis playing city (with both USTA and ALTA, along with a number of side leagues) - playing tennis outdoors in Atlanta summer is miserable *and* they had difficulty attracting players... ticket sales were not good. So the Atlanta Open closed after 14 years.  They just couldn't make it happen, even if for all intents it appears to be massive tennis interest in the surrounding area.
    • So I saw where Luke was doing that show parallel to the game. Whatever it was, statcast something something, knew it would be a good watch. I don’t get ESPN any more but that would be one of the about few things I would watch outside of games.     He doesn’t fool around on the radio broadcast.
