So is this a Bryce issue, a Canales issue, or a non issue?

I don't buy that - not saying he can throw it on a rope, but he can get enough air under it for a Hail Mary.  Bryce will never be like Cam who used to throw lasers, he requires throwing more with anticipation.

If he can get set….yes, Bryce can throw it

hail marys often involve QBs creating additional distance on throws while biding time and when the time comes to get it off….you might not have a good base and setup to get it off.  I do not think there is belief he can do that under bad conditions…. and it’s likely why 2 different NFL coaches haven’t declined.  Get him going backwards and not set?  Scrambling and not set?   Cam could get it off flat footed and all arm.

It was 40 and he said past 50. We have already not attempted or had Dalton out to try a Hail Mary because it is obvious the coaches know he can‘t do it.

lets all be real. there is a reason he didnt throw at the combine. its not that he cant throw the deep ball. he can. its how he throws it that makes the difference

The thing is, he needs near perfect conditions to make those really big throws. Need that xtra step, that run up to launch.  He ain’t standing there flat footed throwing it 35-40 yards.

This same argument , last year, one of the Bryce fans had to go back to Alabama to get a big throw on YouTube as proof. So, sometimes it can happen.

I am not saying he hasn’t surprised me with a few extra yards, I guess the point would be it is a surprise and  not an every day reliable thing.

I wish we had a guy that could zing one 25 yards on a rope with a wrist flick for the simple reason that that is a big advantage in those situations.

The ball was thrown 50 yards. If you can’t see that then there’s truly no helping you

And if you ever been to a game you’d know Bryce warms up working his way back to the 50 and launching balls to just inside the end zone

It was 40. If you can’t see past your blind devotion to a medicore QB I can’t help you.

Not sure this is a problem right now. Seems like progress.

He takes shots downfield more than…..1 starter in the NFL.  And Canales is clearly managing him and his throws.

Is that progress? Is that confidence?

or is it that the Rams and other teams don’t expect a QB that doesn’t throw downfield to take shots….and we have taken advantage of those moments.  Which is going to yield a better success rate.   Hell those 2 Rams throws almost felt like trick plays

Saw someone tweet how Bryce is averaging 265 ypg for the last 5 games. But the Falcons game heavily skewed the numbers. Remove the falcons game he is at 181. Removed the Falcons and Arizona game it is 160.
If we intend to ever compete for a SB with Bryce he either needs to find some secret sauce to get those passing numbers up or we develop an elite defense that can drag the offense to the SB.
QBs of SB winning teams averaged 200+ usually. This isn’t the 1970s where you could win a SB with your QB barely throwing over 100 yards.

The eagles just won while be ranked 29th in passing yards, and they have all pro weapons

In the box score it goes down as 40

But the throw itself is 50 which is what the person said he couldn’t do

It’s truly impressive just how ignorant and clueless some of you are. Clearly have never touched a football in your life or have the slightest clue as to what you’re talking about.

He was on the 50 yard line when he throws it. It lands right in the end zone. The pass went 50 yards in the air. I get it counted for 40 since he was about 10 yards back but he still threw it 50 and it wasn’t a Hail Mary launch pass. It landed in a perfect spot. That’s half a football field. Arm strength isn’t elite but it really isn’t a weakness. People are use to Cam’s cannon plus they see Bryce’s size and just assume.

This is the optimistic view that I'm trying to have. I think the fact he needs to throw with anticipation and in specific ways means he really needs to trust his receivers and work well with them. He's clearly got chemistry with TMac and Coker. He also had it with AT. I don't think he trusts XL at all, for good reason, lol

And imo that’s why we saw Bryce revert back to bad Bryce to start 2025

He ended 2024 looking really good BUT then to start 2025 he had a whole new WR group

TMac (rookie), Tremayne, Renfrow saw a lot of snaps

Legette is Legette. Even David Moore getting hurt honestly hurt Bryce

So it took awhile for BY and TMac to build chemistry and then Coker coming back has made a huge difference as well
