Does anyone else need any more evidence games are managed by the NFL towards certain outcomes?

Canales should have taken his team off the field with the way the refs were jobbing the game. Throw it back in their face and embarrass the shield. Enough is enough.

You could see this coming weeks ago against the Saints. Refs gave them that game too.

The part I’m not sure about is how “in” on this the players and coaches are. The NFL is legally classified as an entertainment business, which was confirmed in court after a fan sued the NFL after the deflategate controversy saying he was defrauded, and the NFL argued in court they are a “spectacle” and not a sporting event. It was all there in 2010. So I don’t know what is written into NFL contracts and employment in ambiguous legal jargon to know what knowledge or recourse they have.

Tim Donaghy would like to have a word with you. Guy literally told all of us how ever many years ago that over half of NBA refs are betting on games they ref and guess what the NBA did... Absolutely nothing.

I promise you refs are betting on games they ref in just about every sport.

The ability for a basketball ref to alter a game vs a football ref is ridiculously significant.

2 or 3 cheap calls against the right player and the game is forever altered, not to mention in the NFL, refs have such specific assignments to where they can only alter so much of the game if they even wanted to.

Absolute night and day when comparing the ability for a ref to put his finger on the scale with those two sports.

You don’t need players and coaches to be in on it. You just need the head ref. At any point today the guy on his head set could have corrected him before he announced it but he didn’t. Which tells you what you need to know.

Not everyone has to be in on it, just one guy. And then you make it taboo to question them publicly, and give them no accountability.

Agreed. A bad call by an NBA ref is either getting or not getting free throws.

In the NFL, a ref can call a bs holding that negates a TD, a DPI that gives 50 free yards, or anything of the sort

I have two thoughts on this.

The rational thought is if it were indeed rigged the Cowboys would win more.

The other rational thought is the only reason to have refs at all is to steer the game.  Cameras and remote replay would call the game with far greater efficiency and accuracy.  That is directly avoided because there's probably a penalty on every play so instead everyone accepts the dice roll of when a ref "feels" like a call should be made.

I think the whole discussion about games being rigged or a script or anything like that is just stupid.

Refs just suck, it's not that hard to understand, they suck in all sports at all levels and make stupid mistakes.

Certainly officials will make  stupid mistakes but when they make glaring  mistakes a blind person can see against one team numerous times that determine the outcome of a game there is only one conclusion that can be made and that is the game was fixed.

If you watch the replay there was a ref who watched Tremble get his helmet ripped off. It was not called on purpose. Missing obvious penalties is how the NFL manages outcomes.

Exactly and that was just one of the many obvious bad calls that determined the games outcome in Tampa Bays favor.
