Sounds like a step in the right direction for their new GM and that team. They took 2 shots and missed wildly with both last time.

Right. From the way it reads if they keep him they are paying for the remaining 2 seasons of his deal.

I know that means they are probably not going to keep him, but that leaves their qb situation as injured Penix, Easton Stick and Kyle Trask. 

And no 1st round pick.

Either way you look at it, it's not a good situation.

falcons are a QB/HC away from being dangerous

saints have a solid defense and they may have a legit QB

In typical Falcons fashion, they will keep him, pay him his money, and then cut him just before the season starts.

So in the details, if he is on the roster 3/13, his salary for 2026 will be reduced to 2 million, with the 35 million difference being combined and guaranteed with 2027, and that is how they get to the 67.9 million guaranteed number that will be valid also on 3/13.

They have 2 months to figure it out or they pay Cousins 70 million, no matter if he plays or doesn't.
