Rico Dowdle sounds like he’s gone

I mean, he has not looked remotely the same after his stretch of games where he went off. Even when he was given a lot of carries after Chuba came back. Just from the eye test he looked much slower and wasn't breaking any tackles

I think the most concerning thing about our offense is how with two starting caliber RB's and one of the leagues highest paid OL's that we kept getting shut down so often this season.

So, what was all that investment for if it isn't anywhere close to a dominating rushing offense?

I think it's a schematic issue, teams figured out what we were doing.  They need to get back to mor power runs instead of zone.

I think a big chunk of it is having a bottom 5 OC.

I do also think we should be drafting Hunt's replacement. He is essentially a vastly overpaid one trick pony as an OG. Lewis is actually a top shelf run AND pass blocker.

We can get cheaper and better at RG.

It's good to be confident in yourself but I don't really understand why he's burning bridges. I get wanting to be a feature back and maybe he was making business decisions in the second half of the season though, because he fell off a cliff.

It is concerning that we have players talking crap about our coaches though.

I'd be curious how our run game performed on scripted drives.  It also felt like we could not adjust when teams figured us out in the run game. To be fair, some of that was because we needed the pass game to back them off and, well......

Agreed.  He's vastly overpaid - not sure if they can restructure him or release him after next year if we can draft his replacement  I thought Cade Mays did a solid job at guard.

I think it's a lot of issues. Bryce being a big one but I think Canales lack of in game adjustments and his very poor general game preparation weigh heavily on the overall offensive output. We can have flashes and some of the first drive scripted stuff can be great but I am not sure we have ever seen a truly great end to end offense performance. Perhaps Atlanta?

It's concerning that Canales isn't an offensive genius he was sold to be.  He's a good motivator and manager of the locker room, but in today's NFL you need your head coach to be more than that.  Otherwise, he needs to relinquish his play calling duties to someone who is.

    • If you're looking for a pat on the back it sounds good in theory until you realize they also had the 2023 Panthers as the top draft class.
    • Going into the 2003 and 2015 seasons we were supposed to be the joke of the league each time. In 2003, John Fox was supposed to still be in rebuild mode. We had a guy named Peppers on the defensive line who was supposed to be pretty good. We had Rodney Peete as our starting QB and a line that was a lot of hope and not much experience. Our new running back was a guy the Redskins, errrr Commanders, had jettisoned for being too old. We had a good kicker and writers thought that was needed because there were going to be more field goals than touch downs. Heck, it looked like they were right up until just before halftime of that first game when we had to yank Rodney Peete and put in some Cajun duded whose name couldn't be pronounced. And Steve Smith? He wasn't Smitty yet. Moose Muhammad, well, he was close to being written off as a bust. You know how that turned out. And then in 2015, we had Cam Newton, who was electrifying to watch but hadn't really won anything yet. There was an offensive line in front of him that looked like it was made in a defunct Swiss cheese factory and our big hope on offense was the great Kelvin Benjamin. And then he got taken out for the year with a knee injury in training camp. Ted "Feet of Lightning, Hands of Stone" Ginn became our default go to guy beside our next best hope, yeah, Devin Funchess. Our defense was pretty good, a scrappy bunch with frikkin' awesome linebacker play and a cornerback who had done more than drank the Kool-Aid, but had snorted the powder. He played like a superhero and became sort of a bat-man during the season. By the Super Bowl he had completely lost his freaking mind, though, and managed to talk his way out of a contract with the team next year. No one was expecting us to win the NFCSouth that season, much less almost go undefeated and into the Super Bowl. So, 2026? Who knows? But our best seasons came when no one had a reason to believe in us, except us.
    • it's not so much this personal vendetta against the Carolina Panthers as it is more about Bryce Young never not once been in the same conversation with the top 15 or even top 20 Qbs in the NFL ..just saying
