The thing is he won't be paid like a top 3 corner in another year.  That's the whole point of locking those contracts in early.  Also, I think he's very much in the conversation among the best in the game regardless of what he's paid.  Chris Olave has his number for whatever reason.  The best corners in the game almost always run into someone who's got them figured out.  He pretty much dominated everyone else all season.  When you factor in the nonexistent pass rush it only further cements his status as one of the best.

Exactly!  I'm going to go off on a limb here and guess the two above Horn are probably two of the more recently paid top CBs in the league.  That's just how it works.  Some players that can cover the middle of the field plus a pass rush would do wonders for our CBs.

My main beef with EE is that he completely misuses Horn, even with a pass rush and better linebackers he is still will not let Horn on their best player for the majority of the snaps. Its frustrating

Horn is made to be a press man CB no doubt.  He claimed we don't have the personnel (talent) to play straight up man.

What, the trade we made for Jackson? Congratulations on really sticking your neck out lol.

I bumped the old thread previously, some of our resident negative nancies were saying that trade would amount to nothing

The sweep had a whole lot to do with a QB who couldn't eclipse 200 yards passing to save his life. I would argue that's the primary culprit.  Plenty of blame to go around.

We certainly see eye to eye regarding the QB.

I'm just saying I try to apply the same standard to any of our perceived cornerstone players and particularly the ones who are taking up a steep portion of our salary cap.

I hope to see Jaycee have a resurgent season this year.

Top 3 instead of top 5???  Not sure how much resurging there is to do here.  Those Saints games really must have soured you on him.  Every dog has his day. Pat Surtain II got manhandled by Amon-Ra St. Brown.  The unstoppable Parker Washington also torched him pretty good.

Brother man right now I put him as a top 10 corner but I think it's homerism to even put him top 5. He's got work to do same as anyone else.

Hes 1 year in to a 2 year contract. No need to extend or worry about letting walk now.

Get these corners some pash rush.

I think we have to prepare at corner. The next game he plays he'll be in his contract year.

Idunno what clicked for him but after that dropped INT he's looked like a different player. I'd extend him another 1-2 years now under the assumption we're currently at his floor. He ended up top 15 in tackles, pass breakups, forced fumbles and interceptions. And that's with a bottom tier pass rush. He's also getting old but we mainly play zone so that minimizes that problem.

If we don't plan on resigning him, CB  sneaks up into the offseason needs. Especially when you also consider Jaycee's injury history.

However, I'd take a consistent pass rush over CB anyday.
