Give Sean a call.

Recommended Posts

Dan needs to make a call, and see how Sean is doing. Bills did him dirty. I understand they say he was the one that wanted Coleman. But who gives AF he’s had them contending every single year since they got Josh Allen.

Seans defensive mindset would be welcomed here. I remember him being much more situationally aware than evero. Here’s to hoping the raiders offer evero a bag he can’t resist and by proxy Sean McDermott comes back to us.

McDermott obviously has more experience doing it, I guess my only concern would be he likes to play things similarly to Evero..ie soft coverage and hopefully your passrush gets there or rushes the throw. We have good corners so personally I think the best way to use them is to play more aggressively on D. I'd like a coordinator that will do that

Like Spags.

If Evero gets the job, then hopefully we would consider interviewing Brendan Daly.

I think the jobs good candidates want are gone. Browns, Cards, or Raiders? Oof. Taking a year off and waiting for better opportunities to arise seems like the right call. Either the Raiders set to take Mendoza #1 overall an offensive minded coach seems like the logical move there anyway.

Looks like the Cards might be getting Mike LeFleur and the Raiders are wanting Klint Kubiak.  I've got nothing on the Browns...

I think a lot of people look back with rose tinted glasses at the McDermott defense years. They were one of the worst in the league his first season, and their ascendancy had a lot to do with Gettleman finally drafting some defensive tackles (Hurneys most glaring flaw during his first time as GM) and landing one of the best defenders of his generation. Plus Thomas Davis’ turning from tissue paper into tungsten steel.

he used very simple concepts in the secondary. It was so easy that courtland finnegan showed up off the street after tillmans injury in 2015 and was starting that week.

2015 was also a year where teams fooled themselves into thinking Josh Norman was the best db in the nfl. I can’t prove this obviously but I really think he made one insane interception against the saints in week 2 or 3 (and it was a fuging sick interception to be fair) and teams just freaked out and decided he was early 90s Deion. I mean he was mentioned in songs by JayZ for crying out loud

Prior to 2015 he had one promising season, was benched for one, and then never came close to that lvl of success again even when he reunited with McDermott in Buffalo.

he was benefitted from kuechly being so good playing MLB that the middle of the field for twenty yards was a no go zone for other teams.

mcdermott was also running Rivera’s defense. I think at the end of the day he was always more of a GM type coach and not a strict XO guy, an accusation that has followed him to buffalo.

he would never come here to play second fiddle to Canales, who’s a complete fraud. He also probably needs a year off just to reload. I can’t imagine getting knifed like that after making Buffalo relevant for the first time in a quarter century.

2027 will be the year McDermott returns and he hires Luke as his DC. Print the shirts.

He was a solid defensive coordinator here but I don’t really see why McDermott should be held in much higher regard than Ron Rivera on the whole. Sean got his own Cam Newton like Ron and still couldn't get past the conference championship 🤷‍♂️

I mean in his defense there was a good team in his way a lot of those years. Sucks but you can’t control a top 5 all time qb being in his prime against you. Same way the early 90s chiefs couldn’t get past the bills.

    • Panthers sign OT Rasheed Walker Terms: One year, up to $10 million Grade: A The price of this deal might be the most shocking of free agency thus far. Walker was widely considered the best free agent tackle this year and was expected to receive a large contract. But his market developed very slowly, so he has signed a one-year deal with a maximum value of $10 million -- meaning the base value is below that -- per NFL Network. For context, my free agency contract model projected a deal averaging $21.8 million for Walker. Instead, it's a short-term commitment for less than half that. And the Panthers are the beneficiaries. Carolina entered this offseason with a possible need at left tackle after Ikem Ekwonu suffered a patellar tendon rupture in the playoffs that put his 2026 season in question. It's also the last year of his contract. The Panthers signed Stone Forsythe as an insurance plan already in free agency, but once Walker's market fell it seemed like they felt adding him was well worth it, too. Our win rate metrics consider Walker to be a solid player. Last season in Green Bay, he was in the 85th percentile among tackles in pass block win rate, though only 22nd percentile in run block win rate. He was in the 69th percentile and 48th percentile in those two metrics in 2024, respectively. Given that Dan Moore Jr. received $20.5 million per year from the Titans last year most -- myself included -- thought Walker would walk away with more than that. Perhaps the struggles of Moore (who wasn't great last season) contributed to Walker's market being cooler than expected, a theory that ESPN's Jeremy Fowler suggested. Walker was also arrested two months ago at LaGuardia Airport in New York for allegedly trying to check-in with a firearm that he had a license for in Wisconsin but not New York. Either way, teams felt differently about Walker than most on the outside thought. But he's a heck of an add for the Panthers at this price. While his run-game contributions might be far from perfect, a weak pass protector at tackle can sink a passing game. Even if this is only a one-year arrangement, Walker should be able to help keep Bryce Young upright
    • Fantastic signing. If he is good, this will make next offseason really interesting. I would imagine that Morgan would try to extend Walker and convince Ikey to move to the right side to replace Moton. This also opens up options at 19 at lot instead of forcing a tackle. I'm not a fan, but I'm definitely more open to Morgen drafting Sadiq now, but there is also Peter Woods, and even some like Dillon Thieneman is now in the mix. Hell, I'm still for another off ball LB.
    • sure, but Panthers are theoretically in their win now window. Their first rounder needs to be a day one starter
