as a backup qb on a cheap deal I would absolutely welcome Geno with open arms.  1 bad year in a terrible situation doesnt erase the fact that he has thrown for 4000 yards multiple times.

Would I want him as a long term solution, hell no, but he is light years better than Dalton and probably light years better than bryce

He looks washed and seems like an entitled dickhead. Kinda the opposite of what I'm looking for.

I'm not a Geno fan, but LV had the worst Oline I've seen in a long time. Jeanty had a little over 800 of his 975 yards after contact. That's insanely bad blocking. I don't want Geno here, but I can't fault anyone for looking like complete ass behind that poo show.

Chargers gave up more sacks and their two RB's together amassed 1188 rushing yards and 2 more touchdowns than Jeanty.

They still won 11 games in the same conference.

The Raiders are the Raiders but Pete Carroll and Geno Smith were also simply terrible.

No. Morgan, Canales, and staff are not capable of reclamation projects.

Get a guy in here who knows how to play the position at a high level.  We'd be the division favorites, and capable of competing with anyone in the playoffs.

Also, have to hit on first and second round picks, which we haven't done historically. Hopefully this is where we get our ILB and LT from.

I think you forget that Canales is what made Geno a commodity in Seattle in the first place.  While I am not a great fan of Geno, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back up Young.

I would prefer Sam Howell because I believe he has the best opportunity to become a starter of all the free agents out there minus Cousins.

Fair point on Canales with Geno.  I've just seen zero innovation or crafted gameplans for Bryce from Canales to make me think he can tailor a playbook for someone who isn't the prototypical QB or lacks prototypical knowledge of the position in the NFL.

That's why I'm banging the drum so loudly for Cousins, and Flacco as a distant second choice.

Max Crosby says he won't play for Vegas ever again...

But evidently the Raiders want a Micah Parsons caliber trade package for him. Now of course that's what they're going to say to open up the bidding but I can't see them coming close to that. One, Crosby is damn good but he's not Micah Parsons. Two, Parsons is two years younger. He had just turned 26 at the time he was traded. Crosby will have just turned 29 at the start of next season. That's a significant difference. Barring injury issues, Crosby should still have a few years of high level play left but you're talking about trading for a player on track to be a first ballot HOFer in the middle of his prime years versus trading for a player on track to potentially be in the HOF discussion toward the end of his prime years. I just can't see Crosby fetching them a Parsons type package. Considerably less. If the Raiders stick to that Parsons precedent this is gonna get ugly.

We can debate his upside but Bryce has gotten better under Canales...RW and Baker are both gunslinger type QBs...it's not impossible that Canales could help Howell not always go for the home run throw. He's got the arm talent

Not sure I want to pay a king's ransom for him. Back to back years now where he has missed games because of injury (yes, I know it is debatable that the Raiders intentionally benched him to tank this season).

Would I love to have him, sure. Is 1 very good pass rusher gonna make us a Superb Owl contender, no.

Hate to ruin the vet QB idea but were stuck with Dalton next year as our backup. His 5.8 mill con1716507538_Screenshot2026-02-10at11_19_28AM.thumb.png.3fbdec9aa6fa22c6973ac0816a23433f.pngtract is basically entirely guaranteed. We cannot cut him therefore he will be on the roster next year, if we had a surplus of cap I could see us making the move but we simply are middle of the pack in cap and have glaring holes on defense that need to be addressed. Mark my words its a slim to zero chance we sign another vet qb for a vet standard 5-10 mill backup contract. Drafting a rookie is definitely in play in the later rounds, and could be a cheap contract to be the QB3 this year and take over QB2 the rest of their rookie contract. Would be nice to have a backup QB that could play in short yardage packages, would be interesting to see a player like Taylen Green in the 6-7th round to get a developmental prospect and our rushing short yardage QB option starting next year.

The only counter point is a legit pass rusher will make Derrick Brown and the rest of our defense way better. I think they sat Crosby last year. Of course the price can't get insane but he'd make a huge difference
