Panthers signing Packers LT Rasheed Walker

Good signing by the Panthers to take advantage of the market dropping out on Packers LT Rasheed Walker. Gives them a very high-end insurance policy for Ickey Ekwonu, who's not a sure thing to be back for Week 1, as  he rehabs a torn patellar tendon.

Ickey's not a sure thing to be back week 1 in  2027 IMO. I  would love to be wrong  about that but really doubt it.

BREAKING: Former #Packers LT Rasheed Walker is signing with the #Panthers, per source.

Walker, just 26 years old, started 48 games over the last 3 years and now gets a new deal.

surprised one of your normal sources did not break this:  Seymour Buttz, Mike Hunt, Dick Bangs...

OT and CB are both premium positions that should still merit a high look.

thienaman would be fun but I said that mostly in jest. The lack of investment in the defensive backfield-CB or S, makes me think it’s on their mind come draft time though

S, ILB, DT or DE. Maybe if a viable LT plummets down to us, you do that. I haven’t seen anyone listed near 19 at C.

I absolutely do not want a TE or a WR at 19 and will be hoping we don’t do that.

Maybe trade down would be good. The top of the second looks pretty fertile to me. I would be good with getting something we could use to get into that area a couple of times.

Who are you benching?

You don't take a nickel corner there, surely

that's probably the one position on defense where you can't find a starter on base defense

I would and dont call me Shirley.  I wouldn't mind Terrell  if available there.

    • Does this mean only topics from within the last year or any topics with posts from the last year? i.e. if there are any old threads we feel should be kept around for whatever reasons, would a bump of that thread before the update ensure it's kept around in full or do the posts from more than a year old still disappear?
    • I'm more intrigued at him becoming our future LG. There were some people who thought he was better suited to be a guard in the NFL to begin with.  Then if Freeling ends up being a legit LT, moving Ickey to LG could give us an incredibly strong left side of our OL for years to come. Ickey has only played on the Left side his whole career, both in college and the NFL, so I just wonder if keeping him on the left side, even if shifting inside, would be better than putting him outside on the right side. Just hoping him growing up a Panthers fan will make him want to stay here and move positions than enter FA so he can stay at LT somewhere else, particularly since LT is the big money position on the OL, so he likely can get paid more by someone else to play LT than play LG or RT here for us.
