Panthers HC Dave Canales hints at adding more weapons for QB Bryce Young

Recommended Posts

WR has to be on the table if he's the best player still on their board. This team has not had a good receiving group in forever. They weren't horrible when Coker came back last year but you can't count on him. He misses like 6 games a season and takes another 4 to get in game shape. If he or TMac go down, the offensive weapons become horrible again. You can't win games if you have to count on XL, Tremayne, Moore or Horn.

I don't believe anything Canales says during the offseason. I specifically remember him having this 1 on 1 interview same time last year and he said that "Jalon Walker is a Panther through and through." We drafted T-Mac. Not mad at the T-Mac selection, just saying that everything is a smokescreen at this point.

It's what they should do. But they never do what should do. It's why they have been struggling to get out of the nfc south cellar for nearly a decade.

We were just in the playoffs for the first time in damned near a decade, and our first round draft pick played a large role in that. Moreover, looking at the costs of receiver these days, it is a premium position where you must control costs, so drafting a legit play maker at receiver is never really a terrible thing.

For the offense to be as bad as it was, and for all the investments that we made in the defense last offseason and this offseason, I just don't get how some of you think that an offensive play maker is a bad thing. I just don't get it. We need a legitimate third receiver, and we can't trust that Legette, Metchie, Sanders or Horn are going to suddenly morph into that.

Sounds like another year of Nick Scott starting and the defense getting torched. Their only hope now is Bryce finally turning the corner.

I mean if you use the playoff game as an example, Bryce wasn’t the problem in that game especially late. If they had the ball last with a chance to win I think they would have. Defense needs backend help.

They did have the ball with a chance for OT. It was brutal.

Exactly but we have nothing but young cheap receivers. We dont have young cheap tackles or defensive lineman. You made a great point but not the one you expected to.

We did have the ball last. Bryce went 0/4.

37 seconds is not much time for anybody but the top 5 QBs. Bryce isn’t a top-5 QB, and a WR dropped a 20-yard pass on fourth down.

True that Bryce did put the ball on a receiver with the game on the line.

I'd rather go OT at 19 if it's offense.

Again. This regime led by Dan needs to find gems in the later rounds. If it's a deep WR class they should be able to do that. If they can't then we're cooked anyways.

You want to spend a top 20 pick for a wr3?   And pick a wr in the first for a 3rd straight year?  Again its a wonky way to roster build which means you have to overpay for pass rushers and positions like guard.

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
