Schrader / Jeremiah mock draft experiment

I wouldn't cry over the pick, could work out well. I just see a crowded TE room that is already underutilized and some glaring needs elsewhere.

But hey, what do I know?

I wonder if the picks had been in reversed order and Jeremiah had picked (he has a North Carolina/App State background) would his better knowledge of Carolina have made a difference? Schrager has a great football mind, but we're such a minor league team to him I'm not sure if he knows or cares about our nuances.

Schrager is known to have an affinity for the Panthers.

I used to watch him daily on Good Morning Football before he moved over to ESPN. And yeah, he seemed to be pretty nice to us, but he honestly was pretty positive to each team as a whole, just pointing out individual situations when they arose. Smart broadcaster/pundit there. Never burns the bridges, just keeps the conversations rolling.

Man, I wish we could just skip to the draft, yanno?

I would be happy to get any one of the following at # 19 pick in the 2026 NFL drafy = tight end Kenyon Sadiq (Oregon), wide receiver KC Concepcion (Texas A&M), or offensive tackle Monroe Freeling (Georgia). safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren (Toledo) t.

FOr whatever reason it doesnt appear we have shown any interest in Kenyon.  Maybe they think its a foregone conclusion he will be gone by 19

I just did a simulator 2x just to see what shows up.  Two players Sadiq and C. Banks are top of the list.  Rodriguez is 45.  Both times I skipped him in round one and by round two he was gone.

Banks would be nice with Brown, Sadiq is more of a luxury pick for us.  I think TE is not a big of a need in round one.

I saw an article where Luke really likes Rodriguez.  When Luke speaks people listen.  Would you use a first round pick on a player rated 45?

I think it’s a stretch but a lot of the rankings had Sanders going in the first last year despite predraft shenanigans. Not an apples to apples comparison but we don’t know where anyone is on the board.

just my opinion

Sadiq feels like a lazy comp.  Sure he would be a big improvement over what we have but at a position we don't and maybe can't (midget qb) utilize.  I hope the staff puts together a list of players you automatically take at 19 (Freeling, Lemon, Downs, Faulk) and if none are there, trade back to look at (Thieneman, McNeil-Warren, Proctor, Lomu, Allen, Iheanachor, Banks, Woods).  I get the people that think an OT would be a waste because we temporarily patched that hole, and ILB and safety are a waste because that is high to take those particular positions, but by trading back we get extra picks to fill every need.  A draft that has an OT, S, ILB, slot WR, and C would really put us in a good position moving forward if we get an extra first three rounds additional pick.
