BOLD TAKE: Panthers will draft Jacob Rodriguez @19

Morgan did not kill it in free agency to position himself to take BPA only to draft the 5th best LB at pick #19.  He likes the guy but hes not a value at that pick.  This front office main focus right now is trying to turn Young into an NFL quarterback.  They are going to give him whatever is going to help him and give him every chance to succeed.  A 2nd round graded LB in the 1st does not do that.  Omar Cooper would probably help Bryce more than most.

Jarod does have luke-like traits and that was 9th overall.

 

I feel Jon had him covered tho....

JRodz easily covers Beason. Lombardi, Nagurski, Bednerick, Butkus. Better testing #. Easy, easy, dub for the stache.

Who the fug is Omar Cooper? Ya’ll never heard of this guy until the draft process. For good reason.

It sure feels like there are a lot of similarly talented players from our top pick down to the early 2nd.

I think a highly rated guy could fall to 19 but unless it is an OT I am probably thinking great someone will want to come up for this guy.  

And I want one of Rodriguez or Golday with our 2nd, and an OT or a DL taken ahead of that. If the USC WR falls you can make a case.  Outside of that, I am out on WR/TE in the 1st. 
I don’t think I trust Evero with these safeties.

I could see it if Simpson is still available.  There are a couple of teams that want his services.  Might be able to trade down and get a 3rd.  Use that 3rd to move back up for Rodiguez

Yep. I am no fan of Alabama QBs but I am almost behind taking him ourselves.  What a message it would send. Shake some stuff up.

We need to go heavy on defense for whomever the rookie QB is that we pick-up next season. We have the offensive pieces so ideally we'd build out the defense and our four year window is a true four year window.

Rodriquez is a significantly better athlete. He's had significantly higher production. He's has been much more recognized at the position. Its really not close from that standpoint.
