So you are telling me this is still on the board and we still stick with Bryce?

Sorry, but pick 20 is one and done in the playoffs.  Unless that loss a nail-biter, then I'm going with one of these guys.    BTW, I like this guy too. I totally expect him to jump over Sorsby, Sellers and maybe even Mensah.

I know they not related, but drafting a Carr might trigger my ptsd

winning the div 2 years in a row would get Bryce a lifetime contract with the teppers.

Side note:  Sorsby looks to be in a bit of trouble today.

Woah.  This team has improved on paper, but the 2026 version still is not he the same zip code of the 2003 and 2015 teams.  No effective TEs, marginal RBs, decent, but not elite, defense and most importantly, inconsistent QB play.

Going into the 2003 and 2015 seasons we were supposed to be the joke of the league each time.

In 2003, John Fox was supposed to still be in rebuild mode. We had a guy named Peppers on the defensive line who was supposed to be pretty good. We had Rodney Peete as our starting QB and a line that was a lot of hope and not much experience. Our new running back was a guy the Redskins, errrr Commanders, had jettisoned for being too old. We had a good kicker and writers thought that was needed because there were going to be more field goals than touch downs. Heck, it looked like they were right up until just before halftime of that first game when we had to yank Rodney Peete and put in some Cajun duded whose name couldn't be pronounced. And Steve Smith? He wasn't Smitty yet. Moose Muhammad, well, he was close to being written off as a bust.

You know how that turned out.

And then in 2015, we had Cam Newton, who was electrifying to watch but hadn't really won anything yet. There was an offensive line in front of him that looked like it was made in a defunct Swiss cheese factory and our big hope on offense was the great Kelvin Benjamin. And then he got taken out for the year with a knee injury in training camp. Ted "Feet of Lightning, Hands of Stone" Ginn became our default go to guy beside our next best hope, yeah, Devin Funchess. Our defense was pretty good, a scrappy bunch with frikkin' awesome linebacker play and a cornerback who had done more than drank the Kool-Aid, but had snorted the powder. He played like a superhero and became sort of a bat-man during the season. By the Super Bowl he had completely lost his freaking mind, though, and managed to talk his way out of a contract with the team next year. No one was expecting us to win the NFCSouth that season, much less almost go undefeated and into the Super Bowl.

So, 2026? Who knows? But our best seasons came when no one had a reason to believe in us, except us.

Just as we won those close games we could have just as easily lost them. So the jury is out on if we were more lucky than good ( see the sweep by the saints) Were moving forward on paper. And how badly dont we all want to see us back to at least Above average form. Its about time.

I'll say the same thing this year that I said last year, wins and losses aren't important.

The only important thing is coming to a decision on Bryce one way or the other.  If he looks amazing but we find ways to lose, who cares we lost, we have our QB of the future.  If he looks terrible but we find ways to win, who cares that we won, we have to replace him.

And that's not me saying I don't want to see us win next year, just saying that wins/losses are secondary and far less important this season than coming to a 100% conclusion on what Bryce is for us.

Having said that, the only way I'll be okay with giving him an extension instead of replacing him is if he is a borderline MVP candidate and at minimum, an unquestioned Top 10 QB in the league next year.

Even just a season of slight improvement won't be enough for me, that's still not good enough to warrant a big extension, he has the team around him, he needs to show why he was the #1 overall pick, if not, good bye.

well i can go ahead & almost assure you that there is no way humanly possible Bryce Young will be a borderline MVP candidate next season ...just saying

Many of us didn't believe in us in 2015.  1/3 of the fans didn't like Cam.  They thought Stewart was done.  When Kelvin Benjamin went down, many thought the season was over.

there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.

it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl

is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying

Early 2027 mock has 5 qbs in the first and it legit could be a couple more.  Our timing with the young decision is actually lining up nicely.

Having said that I fully expect Bryce to get an ext midway through next year

The problem is this year did too 12 months ago. Sellers, Nuss, Klubnik, and Arch were all pretty much unanimously first round picks. Then we ended up with only 1 legit NFL ready QB this year. Hopefully not the same for 2027

Because of a gambling addiction? He's got a mental health issue and he is working it out. That doesn't mean "his career is over"

It is in college. Therefore is most likely is in the NFL. I feel for the kid but that’s the way it is.

Even if he can't play in college anymore, which is still under review, someone in the NFL would take him in the supplemental draft or pay him as the highest paid undrafted free agent ever. The kid is too talented. He will get a shot as long as he completes his rehab and abstains from future gambling
