Bleacher report not buying Panthers’ hype

I keep reading about how everyone thinks our schedule this year is way harder than last year and don't get it. Not saying our schedule this year is a cakewalk, but having to play the 49ers, rams, seahawks, bills, patriots, Packers, and jaguars is about as tough as it gets for an outside of division schedule... Not to mention that we had to play the Cardinals when they were full strength (before injuries) and not looking that bad.

Practically no one thought the Pats were what they were.  Kind of similar re the Jags.
And most didn’t have us as being a loss on their schedule for that matter.
The schedule looks tough to me but there will be missed evaluations and unexpected outcomes like just about every other season.

Darnold

Watson

Love

Caleb

Nix

Hurts

Goff

LFG!

What more can you ask for when it's a make or break year. If he comes out on top he gets paid. If not he gets shipped off like Baker did in Cleveland

I think the defense makes strides and looks good, but the offense will look pretty much the same as last year.  I think the schedule will be the only thing keeping us down.  If we played last years schedule this year it could be 9-10 wins, but the schedule makes 6-8 wins realistic

How anyone can look at our roster last year that went 8-9 and say this Panthers team this year is going to do worse is insane to me. The only position that you can make an argument that we got worse at is running back. And even that one isn't completely sure, because we don't know what to expect from Jonathan Brooks yet.

The one thing Gettleman got right is that big men allow you to compete. And we have improved both trenches this off season.

Every team in our division lost key components of their teams. Atlanta doesn't even have a quarterback right now. New Orleans overspent on a second running back and drafted an injury prone wide receiver in the top 10. The Buc got lucky with Bain, but he's still a rookie and they lost Mike Evans and Lavonte David, two LEADERS for their team. This division is very winnable.

We have a tough schedule on paper right now. But it's also important to understand that we have added more talent to this team. Last year we did a lot with a lot less. Now we actually have some capability to rise to other teams' talent level.

I see 10-7 as a realistic possibility. I think our floor is 7-10 if injuries start to stack up, but again, our depth is better this year.

There are stull concerns bud yes we did elevate our talent at least on the defense.
And I guess the depth got better on offense with Freeling and Hect and Brazzell but I don’t see a lift there anywhere really other than maybe receiver.
Bryce is Bryce. With a green OC and there will be a new dynamic there with Bevell too.
I would think some change in the playbook maybe and some adjustment time maybe should be expected.
And as much as we need to have a big running game, that room is iffy because of Brooks.  We just don’t know.  I am not unhappy with Chuba but not too impressed with him from last season.  We are going t need Brooks to be right or Etienne best be ready for a load.

Also it feels like maybe you are downplaying the other division teams a little much.  More than me anyway.

    • The crappy 3-14 Las Vegas Raiders have Fernando Mendoza as their *backup* Quarterback behind Kirk Cousins. Ponder that for a minute while watching Kenny Pickett highlights.
    • It was so badly misjudged and handled.  The whole Reich thing was the product of other choices not wanting the job. And Tepper was hell bent and determined to have his trendy offensive HC and his franchise QB.  With no waiting.    Gettleman was an oaf to me but he said it right when he said don’t shop hungry. (You know, like he himself did after Norman).
