Picks #1 - #5 Trade History

Since we are all talking about trading out of the #1 pick, I figured I would compile a list of #1 trades that have happened recently, although very rare. I also included picks #1-5 trades from 1992-current.

I hope this will give you an idea on what we could get IF a team falls in love with a player.

1995 - Panthers traded #1 to the Bengals for the #5 and #36 picks

#1 Pick - RB Ki-Jana Carter

1997 - Jets traded #1 to the Rams for the #6, #67, #102, and #207

#1 Pick - T Orlando Pace

2001 - Chargers traded #1 to the Falcons for the #5, #67, next 2nd, and WR Tim Dwight

#1 Pick - QB Michael Vick

2004 - Chargers traded #1 to the Giants for #4, #65, next 1st, next 5th

#1 Pick - QB Eli Manning (Manning/Rivers trade)

Picks #1-5 Trades from 1992-Current...

#1 traded for 5,36 (1995)

#1 traded for 6, 67, 102, 207 (1997)

#1 traded for 5, 67, next years 2nd, and WR (2001)

#1 traded for 4, 65, next years 1st, next years 5th (2004)

#3, 63 traded for 11, 41, 70, 100 (1997)

#3 traded for 12, 24, 119, 154 (2000)

#4 traded for 6, 28 (1992)

#4 traded for 13, 22, 116 (2003)

#5 traded for 7, 83 (1994)

#5 traded for 12, 71, 107, 144, 179, 218, next 1st, next 3rd (1999)

#5 traded for 17, 52 (2009)

Nice job on finding out that info. As much as I would love to see us trade our pick I just don't see it happening this year. CBA issues and the fact there is no clear #1 pick makes it hard for a team to want to give up much for the #1 pick.

We should not have traded that pick! I was so pissed off!!! Steve McNair was the pick. He was right there for the taking. A future MVP! Pass. We have one good year then fall off the reservation until the Fox era. Missing on that guy set us back 6 years!!! It was an easy pick!!

Still hurts. Sorry. :)

How do you think the Bengals feel?

There's no clear #1 according to most people, but all it takes is one team to fall in love with a player. I think Buffalo and Cam Newton may be the best bet.

I'd love to see us move down a couple of spots and pick up some additional picks, but who knows, maybe our staff and front office is in love with a player?

Buffalo would be ideal, but if we don't "bluff" or whatever you want to call it to sell the fact that we will take Cam, why would the Bills trade with us? Denver is the only team between us and them, and no way does Denver take Cam. I just wonder since there is no clear cut guy and the CBA bizz, if the compensation this year would be less than in the past. I know there is a value chart, but I don't know if that chart is in play this year or on down years.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
