Steve Smith Tribute *NEW*

Steve Smith is awesome.

Even if he leaves, I think we have two promising receivers still. Here's the best video I could find of Ghettis/LaFell highlights.. I think they can only do better in next year's offense

That run by Gettis at 1:06 is a thing of beauty. That guy has some speed, and can cut pretty quickly.

I really hope Rivera and Chud can play to his strength (as well as everyone else's).

Edit: I thought that was Gettis, but it was LaFell. Maybe LaFell is faster than I thought!

Fug that. No trade should be involved with smith. If I'm JR smitty would be buried in a panthers uniform.

Unless he wants a trade, JR or Hurney isn't gonna keep a player that doesn't want to be apart of this team.

Awesome video! I am one of the fans that grew attached to Steve Smith. He was the face of the franchise (not jake, and thats not a knock). I hope that he is not traded. I want him to retire a panther. I know it is a business as well but what about loyalty for someone that gave you his all and went up to catch balls that his QB left him hanging to get hurt. I met him when he came to winston-salem after the superbowl lost and this guy was one of the coolest guys I ever met. He was joking with my friend and had no problem signing all of our papers and shirts lol. He was like, "how many autographs you want, 1, 2, 10" lol. But I hope he retires. You find him a decent QB and you will see the Steve Smith of old. This guy's motivation to me is the highest in the NFL. I know how it feels to be the short one where people doubt you or whatever, and I know how hard you have to work to not only prove them wrong but yourself as well. JR keep this guy a panther!

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
