What's Moore going to do now?

Really? Draft a QB #1 overall on a 2-14 team and you're not going to start him? I'd bet the next 9 guys taken in the draft after Newton are starting...

Normally I wouldn't go along with starting a rook QB but in this situation I think it will be ok. New coach, new playbook, new era, let him start growing now.

Valid point but did Vick start Week 1 in 2001? Nope

no, that's not a valid point. that's the furthest thing from a valid point. Assuming that a team is 2-14 has to start a rookie QB is NOT A VALID POINT, especially adding on that the next 9 guys in the draft will be starting.

you all act like QB isn't the hardest position in all of sports and rookies are just plug and play.

I am hoping that we trade Clausen for a 3rd round pick (next years draft) and retain Moore, then bring in a vet. Put Pike on the practice squad.

you couldn't get a 3rd rounder for Clausen now.

vet/Newton and Clausen does belong on the roster despite my hate for him after last year.

Nope. I'm gonna give him at least a year to adjust to the speed of the pro game.

You might stick him in for a few plays here and there just to give him the feel of dodging live bullets, but if he starts anytime before next season, I'll be gritting my teeth.

Yeah, Moore is gone... he'd be a fool to re-sign here.

I'm not convinced of that just yet.

If they acquire a veteran, then I'll take that prospect more seriously, but I'm allowing for the fact that the team might want Moore to be their "veteran presence".

(personally a tad skeptical of that strategy, but it's not my call)

Pike won't make it to the practice squad and Clausen won't get a third - last year we had to carry pike on the active roster because there were a ton of teams chomping at the bit for him. There may even be more this year now that he has a year under his belt of study etc.

Moore will not start anywhere - he lost that opportunity. He will be a career back-up which isn't a bad gig.

We'll see, but he'll have legit opportunities to start some place. If he loses the competition, so be it, but he'll have the chance to win.

Moore may be our veteran going forward. It may not be possible to land one of the other guys given our situation. A lot of us talk about guys like Bulger, McNabb, but how many of them want to play for a half year to make way for the #1 draft pick, on a team that was among the worst in the league last year? Not many.

as people have stated, and I'm about to restate... Clausen might go for a 6th or 7th. you're crazy.

At this point Moore is not ready to practice still recovering from surgery. As such he is not a consideration right now. Lets see how he does and whether they bring him to camp. Too early to tell what they do with him. Honestly with his record and history I wouldn't be getting rid of him. Right now he is the best QB on our squad which is sad to say.

He doesn't qualify for that job. He can't teach a young QB anything because he doesn't have exp. himself. He is still learning how to be a starting QB.
