What will we get for Steve Smith?

Obviously we weren't able to get draft picks for this year's draft so do we instead go for 2012 draft picks. That would make the most sense as we could get additional value (possibly even a 1st rounder), depending on the team.

Or we could make a player for player trade. But who do we want from the Chargers, Ravens, Raiders, or whoever we end up making a trade with?

Unless we can get a 2012 first rounder, I think we should keep Smith though.

If we can get Malcom Floyd though, I would be happy with getting a 2nd or a good defensive tackle through a trade.

i don't want any players from those teams. just draft picks. likely a 3rd. or maybe 2nd if its from a good team picking late feeling they can win a superbowl in the next 2-3 years with the right WR. That eliminates the Raiders.

We're not getting a second we're definitely not getting a first. Our best value in trading Steve Smith will be if we can get a proven but still young veteran who is a malcontent for another team....

I hope it's not some scrub guy off SD's defense coming over just because of his existing relationship with Rivera. Honestly, there's not a player on SD's defense that would be an upgrade over any of our players except Jammer and Weddle. Maybe a DT, but I have faith in our rookies and Landri (and hopefully Cofield).

Rivera and Hurney have made it clear we're not giving him away..if we don't get some decent compensation he won't be going anywhere.

Prior to now, I wouldn't have expected to get higher than a fourth for Smith, but if the reports about multiple teams having interest are true and there's a little competition, we might end up getting better than he'd objectively be worth.
