Naanee or LaFell?

Ouch :sosp:

Curious as to why people think Naanee is starting right now? Ex-Charger bias, or did he legitimately earn it?

I think familiarity with the system and that's it. I think if Gettis was healthy Naanee would still have got the nod....initially. LaFell will over take him in a few weeks.

Gettis.... wait Well both have there problems but LaFell seems to be the guy that can make the circus catches so I vote him. He also is a monster in the run blocking game.

I still hold to my statement that Naanee only made the team over Guy and Clowney because he was from SD. Both of those players played at the same level he has.

Id assume its Charger bias, its a lot like the Cowboys - Dolphins connection, it seems whenever the Cowboys drop someone, the Dolphins take them.

Rivera came into Charlotte pretty high on both LaFell and David Gettis - whom he referred to in his initial presser as "11 and 12" - but seemed to sour on both in training camp and preseason (LaFell more so than Gettis). That's a big reason why Naanee is on roster.

So was this a bad choice?

I think Nanee is starting right now because he knows the playbook better and he can run the routes from several different WR positions... having said that, LaFell needs to take over as the # 2 guy. Nanee's greatest asset is probably as a slot receiver to begin with, he's a possession type guy who can run those slant routes on 3rd down and get you a 1st down.

My qustion: Is LaFell routinely getting separation? I think he blocks better and has made some great catches. Naanee is not blocking well. He does get open but he and Cam have not connected on too many. I think he was brought in because of no mini camps and otas. He knew how to be a receiver in this this offense from the first day of training camp. I think it is just a matter of time until LaFell overtakes him if there is no bias involved.

I dont think it was a bad choice but I also dont think he knew what he had in Gettis and LaFell. Both are not Practice all stars but come alive in real game action.

    • Geno fits Canales and fits the O.  It’s why Geno worked in Seattle and not Oakland.  He is a deep ball passer.  NFL is about fit.  Geno would beat Bryce out in 2 weeks in a real camp battle.  Which ain’t Geno praise.  It’s just recognition Geno is a round peg and that is what we are lacking
    • Awesome idea.  Let's make Cincinnati an offer.  I'm 100% sure they are ready to give up on Burrow. That is if you can keep him on the field.  He's been available how many games over that past 3 seasons? Getting Burrow is about as realistic as finding the allusive Rainbow Unicorn.  Do you realize that Young was responsible for 19 of the 40 yards on that final drive? Rico had 21 yards. Both of those completions were for first downs.  That's what game winning drives require.  It doesn't require the QB to throw the ball each and every down.  You do know this? It's clear that you won't give credit where credit is due.   While Bryce isn't your typical "Franchise QB" he's running the gameplan our coaching staff designs.  Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Bryce sucks because you say so.
    • This team is built to win, which I said at the start of the season. I'm not saying we are a super bowl contender, but it's a playoff roster.  The big handcuff is at the QB position.  If Bryce Young cannot start playing at a professional level we are going to continue struggling and stealing wins instead of punching people in the mouth like we should.  The reality is we should be sitting at 2 losses and have blown several teams out, including Green Bay, but having absolutely NOTHING in the passing game is holding us back badly.  Point being, in this current scenario our best hope is that we barely make the playoffs and get absolutely obliterated in the first round.
