Our worse defense ever?

you know, this was all starting last year.

overall they might have been better, but they were notorious for letting some big plays through that really screwed any chance of us being able to stay in the game. that bears game really comes back. that team let todd collins beat them? c'mon.

the D has been on a downward spiral for a few years. doesn't excuse the poo we've got right now, but it shouldn't have come as big of a shock as it was.

aside from the Titans debacle, all of our games have been pretty close

That's the problem. The Panthers should have won more games by now. Those close game loses were do to ur defense giving away the game.

Many on here ish that Panthers offense, especially Cam, don't deliver enough in the 4th qrter but the numbers the Panthers have been putting up early were more than eough to win, even if the offense slowed down a bit during the 4th qrter, if the defense had played strongly for the full 60 minutes instead of sparadically.

Instead of looking at just points or yards surrendered I looked at which team gave up the most second half leads or which gave the most points in the money quarter between 2001 and 2011.

IN 2011 we have been leading or were ahead at some point in the second half in 9 out of 10 games. Of those games we lost, we blew leads in 7 of those 8 games or 87.5%. We blew leads in the fourth quarter in 6 of those 8 games or 75%.

Comparatively in 2001, we were leading or were ahead at some point in the second half in 10 out of 16 games. Of those 10 games we blew leads in 8 of those games in the second half or 80% and 6 of those 8 in the fourth quarter or 75%.

Don't know what the hell that means except they were both bad. Maybe the difference is that we were in more blowouts in 2001 where this year we have been in as many close games blowing fourth quarter leads in 10 games as we did all of 2001.

Siefert somehow had a 0 scoring differential....wild. I still think the 2001 team would beat both the 2010 and 2011 Panthers.

This is what happens when your GM and owner decided mid stream that they dont like paying for Vets anymore and go all or bust in the draft. Add that they also did a mass exodus of ALL veteran talent last year and this year and we are now where we are.

Also we would have been a lot better off if hurney was worth a damn in trades cause we basically shot ourselves in the foot for about 3 years. Im not saying that Fox didnt need to go but he also was not allowed to run the team he wanted for about 4 years also.
