Tired of the Kirkpatrick hype.

Dre Kirkpatrick is rated the 22nd best player on Mel Kipers big board. I'm not saying that kiper is always right but his job is to watch film and evaluate players. With dre's size and speed, he has to have some reason why he is rated that low. (lack of coverage skills maybe?) All I am sying is that I don't think we should take him with our first pick. The prospect that will help us the most is Luke Kuechly. He is by far the best LB in this 2012 draft class. He is a tackling machine with size and speed. Kuechly led the nation with tackles by a marigin of 45. Thats my 2 cents.

So you're using one draft board as evidence that hes over hyped? Where do the rest of the respectable mockers have him?

Scouts Inc. has him at #8 as a 95, tied with RGIII and Reiff, just 1 below Claiborne, Coples, Richardson (with a 96). Kalil has a 97 and luck has a 99.

I think Kirkpatrick is a decent-to-good CB and a potential pro-bowl type FS. Personally, I don't think he's worth a top ten pick.

That said, I'd take Kirkpatrick all day over Kuechly. He's stuck at MLB in a 4-3 and fug moving Beason again.

All I can think about when I see and here talk about taking luke kuechly is ,dan connor takling numbers are overrated really dan connor all time takling leader in pennstate history translating to mediocre lb in the nfl Dre Kirkpatrick would be a great pick for us at 8/9 we need speed at the olb spot lukekuechly doesn't fit the mold

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
