Later round punt returner?

I would not be surprised to see us go with J. james out of Oregon with our #2. He can replace AE and Goodson, improving both STs and 3rd downs. I've seen him rated a mid 2nd round which also puts him in the BPA area and a good possibility of being avaiable. NO pick up of Sproles last yearwas rated the best FA acqusition by many and James is in the same mold.

Please God no. Sure he can be explosive, but dude fumbles too much and doesn't have the greatest hands in the world. 6 fumbles alone this past season. Plus, he's a projected 3rd rounder-ish right now and even in the 4th I wouldn't touch him.

Fumbles too much? Where are you getting your information? I watched every single game he played in and I don't remember him ever fumbling during a kick off or punt return, much less it being a problem.

Also, where are you looking that he's projected to be a 3rd rounder??

AE is clearly not the best returner in the league. They have stashed him there for a reason. Not even going to speculate on what it is though.

He was very sure-handed this year though and with a top-ranked offense playing it safe on returns is much more paramount than giving a vanilla offensive scheme a short field.

this sounds like something Adam Gold would say... considering, you know, he's a brain dead buffoon that somehow landed a gig on the radio.. 99.9 The Fan must be an equal opportunity employer that filled their void of hiring someone with down's syndrome..

Kiper/Scouts Inc. has Graham as the #53 overall prospect...#7 WR.

For an example of him fumbling a punt, the GT game this year.

23 yard average on kickoff returns, 9.5 average on punt returns for his career.

Walter Football - Unranked, FA

CBS Sports - 34th WR, projected 7-FA

NFL.com - Not in the Top Ten Receivers, or Top 50 overall prospects

Your link said he had 6 fumbles this season, it didn't say how many of those occurred on punt or kick returns. Plus this selection isn't about being a receiver anyways. He would be coming here because he is an explosive, experienced punt returner.

    • I am high, but that’s besides the point! The blue line is not good right now. I’ve said it all year. I don’t think this group meshes well. Slaven has been just OK Niki up and down Miller up and down ghost and Walker have been your most consistent guys. Maybe it comes together more towards the playoffs
    • I was expecting to see more cap room moves by now, which may be to suggest that we are not going to be that aggressive.  I have mixed emotions about that (because I think we have 3 needs on D and 3 needs on O--starters).  If you look to the draft for 3 starters, that is ambitious.  We need 6
    • Yeah we shouldn’t be competing with teams, bidding wise, to sign a WR. There will be one for us and our budget.  I keep saying, how many balls will there be to go around anyway? One thing good I will say for this offense is the ball has been spread around at times. Seems like I remember seeing a large number of guys have caught passes in a game. Or been targeted at least. 3 RBs 4 or 5 WRs 2-3 TEs type of stat lines. 10-11 guys.  Not every week but that happens.    As far as WR in general, we need the smaller agile and quicker component to compliment what is there. After that it should be about depth, having good backups for the starters so we can run things consistently still, if a guy is out for a week or two. That is especially important in game where you have to finish the game with who you made active.
