Jonathan Stewart Trade Idea

If Hurney was smart he'd try and convince the Colts they need an every down back like Stewart to support Luck next year. They give us their 2012 2nd and they get Stewart. Their running game is going to be atrocious next year again with Addai and Donald Brown. Nobody is going to respect that run game. If you put Stewart back there he'll give you 1200 yards and 10-15 TDs easily as the feature back.

For those of you homers that think Hurney is going to resign Jonathan Stewart and we're going to keep DWill AND Stewart AND Tolbert...its not happening. Stewart is going to be the best RB on the free agent market next year. If we were going to resign him it'd be done already...he's gone. Trade him now to get something for him, let Tolbert take over his role, and actually get our money's worth out of Deangelo Williams. So far Williams has been paid a king's ransom and did essentially nothing last year to warrant it.

I'm 100% on you with this. Whoever think Stewart wants to come back next year is wishful thinking.

I say let the colts suffer. keep him for one more year and if he wants to leave after that let him. but I think he'll stay, cuz theres a future in Carolina that will nuture his and any of our other rb's careers for years to come. Quantity and quality. Or go work your ass off in a struggling program somewhere else. And see how long you last with a crap qb and crap line.

Stewart will be re-signed by the end of March 2013, he will not hit free agency. Teh FO will do what they need to to make this happen, watch what I tell you... He is one of the core players, a proven back with little wear. He has quite a few more years left and most will be in the same jersey...

I will gladly eat all the crow yous can feed me. But I am much happier servin it up...

God forbid DWill gets hurt or Tolbert we have nobody .....Stewie will be here this season. God this feels like groundhog day.

God forbid Smitty gets hurt, we have nobody...

God forbid Gamble gets hurt, we have nobody...

God forbid Gross gets hurt, we have nobody...

God forbid Kalil gets hurt we have nobody...

We are the only team in the league that has an All-Pro talent backing up an All-Pro talent at any position. And of we cannot keep both (which I think we can) why would you not get something in return for one of them rather than letting them walk?

I don't want to trade Stewie, and I think we can re-sign him. But, I don't get this argument that we can't let him go because what if DWill gets hurt?

Then we would be in the exact same shape as any other team that loses their starting RB.

Hey remember when our starting back went down and we still made the NFCCG?

Remember when GB lost their starter and won the SB?

No solitary pick is worth giving up Stewart. Hell, since 1st rounders are out of the equation, I don't even think multiple picks would cut it for me. I'd rather lose him to Free Agency than give him up without a fight. Shame on you guys for valuing picks over your own players. You guys are just as fickle and shallow as bandwagoners.

Hey remember when our starting back went down and we still made the NFCCG?

NFCCG isn't the best example considering we lost that game because we literally ran out of running backs lol.

I am a huge D-Will fan. Always have and always will be.

With that being said, you cut D-Will after the season before letting Stewart walk or trading him. This offense is not only catered around cam for him to succeed but it is also catered to the Stewart's strenghts (moreso than D-Wills).

I'd love to see them both in the backfield together for another 4-years, but the panthers would be making a huge mistake if they allowed Stewart out of this city for nothing.

    • Have you seen the mock drafts lately?   Most of them have us taking a QB. Just because you aren't high on these QBs doesn't mean the Panthers or other teams aren't.   If you want me to be real I just think you a Tmac homer and all you care about is us drafting him. It's why you get so defensive when people mention other prospects.   Be open to other people's ideas. Nobody in this thread is saying anything bad about your boy Tmac.
    • Oh good lord Interest doesn't mean interest in making a bad trade to take the player, that's why I had such a long post, to accurately describe why those are two different things, but you don't like to listen to that stuff.  Being interested in a player doesn't live in a vacuum. It's very simple... there isn't a #1 draft pick type of grade on any of these QB's, if there was, we'd just take them.  You can't bluff a pick everyone knows you won't make, and trying to trade the pick is the CLEAR signal that you're not taking the QB. Just because the Raiders would have interest, doesn't mean they're going to bail us out of a situation we don't want to be in, they'd be smart about it and just sit put, let us take a non QB as we'd be telling the world we're not taking one just by trying to trade the pick, and then they'd take him at #2 (either with their own pick or by trading less to get that one). Oh, and your point of "if nobody is willing to make the trade, you obviously just take the best QB" is quite literally the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. If nobody is willing to trade up to take the QB, then it's OBVIOUS that the QB isn't worth taking with that pick, so OBVIOUSLY taking the best QB there is just OBVIOUSLY stupid and a bad pick. The moral of it is if there is a QB worth taking, we're taking them and not making the trade.  If there isn't a QB worth taking there, nobody is trading up to #1 to take one, we just showed the NFL how bad of an idea that is 2 years ago, it's really not hard to see. You keep making up this mythical situation where there is a QB who has shown to be worth trading up to #1 for and we'll be able to leverage that into a trade.  But we're the most QB needy team in the league, if we end up with the #1 pick, either we are taking a QB #1 or no QB is going #1 unless we get VERY lucky and two teams in the Top 5 fall in love with one prospect and we can play them off each other and fleece one of them. But again, I can't see that happening, as if there was a QB worthy of that, we're just taking him ourselves.
    • Sanders is with Tom Brady brand and that's his mentor. The Raiders owner was with Sanders taking pics at a Vegas game together.   It doesn't take much to connect the dots that Vegas will be interested in Sanders as their franchise QB. Oh yeah and guess who hasa small ownership stake in the Raiders Tom Brady.   I guess this is just another made up Madden idea by me huh?
