Bruce Campbell A Panther...

Seems like Otah 2.0. Lots of talent but questionable work ethic that could lead to injury. Goodson wasn't getting any playing time on this roster anyways though so I've got no problem with it. If he turns out to be good then he's great insurance for Otah.

brain issue == mentally challenged

I believe in this situation, it is fair to hypothesize that his "brain issue" is a learning disability of some kind. I am not saying he can't learn, or couldn't be a productive NFL player. I am saying he most likely has a cognitive disorder that slows the processing of information and retention.

This is where I think Rivera will truly excel as a head coach. He takes dudes with potential and squeezes every once of talent out them.

Just look at the Chargers' defense when he was there... there weren't any huge names. Most were scrubs. I mean just look at Garay, he was a scrub and Rivera brought the best out of that dude. Not only does Rivera have a solid philosophy, he molds players into those key pieces that come together to make a lethal unit. He and his staff are teachers, and that is the best thing about Rivera. Last year was a funky year, no off season and whatnot. Give this guy a little more time and he will have our team up in the convo of elite teams.

I'm ok with this. I expected Mike Goodson to be cut in training camp so to get anything is ok with me. I like smart players that work hard. This guy seems like the opposite. I don't really believe people change. Not after a certain age. I hope for the best but if all he does is make the roster as a reserve I'm ok with that.

    • Thielen was a "dawg" like Dan Morgan likes to say. And they replaced him with puppies.  The analytics are probably saying this is more targets for younger receivers they are hoping to develop, specifically the first round pick from 2025. The eye test is going to show a very inexperienced group of WRs that are going to have some serious growing pains, for a 3rd year QB who has not yet proven to be the guy going forward.  It's crazy how in the literal first game of his NFL career, Cam Newton showed everyone he was a star QB and there was never any doubt about that. It almost didn't even matter who was around him, although he definitely had a serious lack of talent at WR for most of his career. Bryce is going into his third season and there is still a ton of doubt, and who is around him is seen as crucial for him to have success. I don't like it.
    • Everyone says AT was old and slow but the one thing he could do consistently was get separation. That takes skill and it's been a huge issue in our WR for years. And while Moore may be a great locker room guy and our WR coach may be a 12 year vet, he's not playing in the game. Vets like AT do what they do because they can see things others don't and exploit it. The DB interview I mentioned before was with Stephon Gilmore after his DPOY season. He was pulling the younger DBs aside showing them things you wouldn't even think you'd be able to tell from the way the receiver was standing.  Seeing what a DB or LB is biting on in game that can give you that half step advantage is huge and we don't have that experience in our WR group right now and I think it could end up hurting us. None of our receivers have lined up against NFL corners successfully on a regular basis. Having someone that can walk over and give you a tip to get a half yard separation can be a difference maker.
    • We only fielded about 4 NFL calibre players on that unit last year.
