Joe Flacco Is The Nfl's Best Qb

Recommended Posts

I mean, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'm top five, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'd be very successful at my job if I didn't feel that way. I mean, c'mon? That's not really too tough of a question.

I suppose I wouldn't want my QB thinking he was the 11th best starter in the league..............

Lol. Joe is a good QB when he's on his game but the moment bad Joe comes out it's over. He's been lucky to be on such a stacked team too. I remember the story of how he has the most wins out of any QB in his first 4 season but come on the Ravens have been loaded with defensive talent.

Also Ray Rice plays a HUGE role. I've got to find it but in all the Ravens 4 losses last year Rice averaged 9 carries while he averaged 20 in all their wins.

But back to the point. No he's tripping.

Confidence is good, but it has limits. He should have said he wants to be the best QB in the league.

Not sure why you "edited" his quote to make your point. His attitude is the same attitude most starting QBs in the NFL have. These guys are all hyper-competitive. What did you want him to say? That's like all the people who are obsessed with the "humble athlete" dichotomy. The fact of the matter is almost all professional athletes are convinced to the point of extreme arrogance that they are THE MAN. That's what it takes.

You know, Eli Manning said he was an Elite QB before last season and he wound up leading the Giants to their second Super Bowl lol. So just maybe this works out for Joe similar to Eli. I know a lot of people will make much more of this than is needed, and this will get drastically over blown. Quite honestly as a Ravens fan, I would be more disappointed if Joe said he wasn't a Top 5 Quarterback. I'd rather have a QB with confidence in himself rather a QB who doesn't believe he is a Top 5 QB and doesn't believe in himself.

Who's been better on a recent basis?

Joe threw 11 TDs and no interceptions during the playoffs...

Yep. He arguably had the best individual post-season in NFL history but he's not the best in the league. He's officially in my top-6 though.

Brady, Rodgers, Peyton, Eli, Flacco, Ben

He's finally joined that top tier and stepped ahead of that Ryan/Rivers/Cutler group.

seems like every super bowl winning QB is temporarily among the leagues best or labeled "elite"

Exactly - by this rationale, Eli Manning was the best QB in the league only until Joe Flacco and the Ravens won the superbowl. If Colin Kaepernick and gang convert that 4th and goal and had hung on to win, then is he called the best QB in football? If that happens, is Flacco's "clutchness" questioned for not leading his team to any touchdowns in the 2nd half like Matt Ryan a couple of weeks ago?
