Brees Reiterates That Nfl Has Provided “No Meaningful Evidence”

I have no problem with him. Deny, deny, deny. It's what I would expect him to do. Stand up and deny any wrongdoing on members of his team. Sure, everyone knows it's a lie, but don't throw your team under the bus when you don't have to...

Keeping his mouth shut is a far better option than lying when everyone knows he's lying. Also, lying when there isn't anything to gain from it is both dishonest and stupid.

Saints Report is an absolute riot right now

They all keep talking about how Roger Goodell is going to be sorry he tried to discipline the Saints. It's funnier than watching Ralphie dream about how he would make his parents regret washing his mouth out with soap.

(only less mature, and a lot less intelligent)

I mean, I think he's trying to stand up for his franchise and defend them...But he is going about it all in the wrong way.... It's sad to see someone like Drew Brees do this to himself.

Why is it sad? I dont think I follow. It's vile and disgusting, yes. Sad mmmm not so much.

How about Demaurice Smith?

Commissioner Roger Goodell says he expects to have a conversation with the union before handing down punishment for any of the 22-27 players involved in the Saints pay-for-pain incentive program from 2009-11.

Smith says he’s yet to see any hard evidence that players participated in such a program.

“As of yet, they haven’t turned over anything that we would consider to be direct evidence of player involvement in a ‘pay to injure’ scheme that we could consider for discipline,” Smith told union publication ProPlayersInsider, via CBS Sports. “It’s very hard to have a productive discussion about punishment when one side has kept, to itself, all the information.

“What I would expect is to have a conversation soon and certainly it would be our expectation that the request for all information, as it relates to particular players, will be provided before any discipline takes place.”

Smith calls the media speculation surrounding player punishment a “very unfair situation.” He says when/if hard evidence is provided by the league, the union will take the side of player safety.

“Whether it comes down to Roger or myself, I don’t think either of us would prefer to have a disciplinary system that is being played out in public with people relying on less than full information. That does nothing to benefit the integrity of the men who play the game. It certainly does nothing to champion the disciplinary system. It does call into question issues of fairness and what’s appropriate.”

good lord its like a day care over there

People, we should look beyond Goodell to the driving force befind all of this. The owners are fighting for their potential financial lives with the upcoming concyssion cases. Its their own daned fault though. If they had a real system in place all along to take care of former players instead of being greedy, they wouldn't be in this mess. However, here we are. And JEFF PASH.....yes, the same stupid guy that nearly ruined negotiations for the owners during the CBA IS ADVICING GOODELL ON ALL THINGS BOUNTY-GATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's why Goodell is playing Hitler.

    • Ideally Bryce and the other starters should get at least a full quarter and an argument could be made for 2 full quarters given how they've played early in the season the last few years.
    • A rookie that has never played a snap and a proven 1000K NFL WR are not going to be viewed the same in these type rankings.  And calling draft picks, lotto picks, isn't some new quip I just invented.  take the big 3 Hubbard, AT, insert whatever 3rd Panther you want vs Kamara, Hill, Olave.  Most football folks outside of Carolina are picking the Saints there IMO.
    • You didn’t really address the point, just like you ignored the point about the RBs initially, and saying “they are all lotto picks” is just a really silly reduction because you could say that about literally any player rookie or vet every snap, every game, every year. It is well known that different positions have different hit rates, and I would argue different types of prospects within position groups as well, and that hit rates change the further down in the draft you go. Everybody knows QB is different and that, for example, first round OL have a really high success rate. Using your lotto ticket analogy…again…you are saying a lotto ticket with a 1 in 100 chance of hitting is the exact same thing as a lotto ticket with a 1 in 2 chance of hitting (this is an example, don’t take these odds literally). The point was he is no more of a lotto ticket than the 31yr old receiver coming off a major knee injury, and in my opinion he is better odds with a higher potential “jackpot”. Saying one player is an “lotto ticket” while another isn’t is just not sound logic. You have no idea who will break out, regress, get injured, etc. There are safer bets than others, that’s all. I don’t think Diggs is a safe bet and even if he was, weighing him over all of the Panthers WRs plus 2 1k rushers is just dumb. You can disagree if you want. The list is stupid.
