I still have faith that jimmy the pick is gonna develop trade value on some level and therefore above the cut.

all things being equal though I would cast my vote to have Troy Smith in Charlotte over Jimmy.

Only need 2 on gameday....need 3. With Newton's style of play....he probably won't be in the running to break Favre's starting streak. Need to be attempting to develop youth at QB.

Would love to see us dump Jimmy and pick up a kid to groom. kid with a big arm and willing to sit in the pocket. Clausen in THIS scheme is a wasted spot we could at least be attempting to use on giving someone a shot

You could develop a guy on the practice squad for a season or two and save a roster spot open for a special teams gunner or an extra TD

Our 1st pick in the 2010 NFL draft was Jimmy Clausen. We got a QB many people heralded as a top 5 pick for 2nd round salary in a QB situation that was mired in uncertainty. We had a coaching staff that knew they were a living version of Duck Hunt for the NES. When Jimmy fell to us, we took a gamble.

We threw him into a situation in which he was being coached by a staff that were knowingly on their last steps with a surrounding cast that rivaled any movie involving Uwe Boll as its director.

As a lifetime fan of this organization, I can safely opine that the "Jimmy Clausen Experience" can warrant a pre-season showcasing at the very least.

Then, I don't know, see what happens then go from there?

Clausen has no value....specifically in this offense.

He is here bc Hurney drafted him and we don't part with players when we should.

A great backup doesn't have to be athletic like Cam. Only needs a big arm, willing to stay in the pocket and attack downfield. Doesn't need to be able to run....that is a bonus. Rivers nor DA in 07 got moves....but will throw bombs downfield
