Sorenson: T.Davis and his Knee

Kurb

Sad day in huddle history when we have fans that are Hating so hard that they want members of there own team to fail.

I don't know if I would say anyone wants anyone to fail.....

I think Armanti Edwards won't amount to poo in the NFL....I am not pulling for him to fail however. There is a difference.

There's a broad gap between that and betting money that one of our own players has a devastating career ending injury. That's indefensible to me.

Dr . James Andrews did this surgery. 1st 2 surgeries performed by Carolina team doctors. Who while believe are probably highly skilled are not at the level of the man who practically invented the procedure.

Should he come back and peform at a high level, eventually leading this team to the playoffs and a superbowl; they should rename the comeback player of the year award after him.

Much like the Walter Payton award, the comeback player of the year award would be "The Thomas Davis Award"

This post points out that most of the folks giving Mr. TD crap are weaponless.

He stated an opinion, and yet the blind love for the team/man/hype and hope for the season blind or in more related terms unarm so many others.

Naturally we all hope that he can come in and play a full season, but with that aside anyone who says that there is not a high liklihood that he will be injured again has their head in their buttocks. As great as he is, if he is reduced to a situational/rotation player out of fear of injury to him, he becomes as much of a liability to the team as as asset. Personally i would prefer an average LB out there every snap rather than a GREAT one who only plays 10 snaps a game and spends the rest of the game on the sidelines.

Can the average person come back from these surgeries and recover...sure! Can an NFL player whom has had these injuries come back to a game where they are constantly crashing and wrestling 250lbs plus men, getting fallen upon, hit, etc etc come back and play? Well...maybe some, but in my simple and humble opinion its just one more roster spot that could otherwise be open for someone who can be on the field more consistantly.

Actually he came on here saying TD wouldn't last 6 games and wanted to bet everyone 100 dollars. Then it digressed into name calling and homerism followed by him saying he some kind of health degree so he was an expert. Mr. TD didn't know that he injured the same knee 3 times, didn't know that the procedures were different performed bu different surgeons and has no insight into the recovery process or rehab he did or is currently doing. Hence the battle of wits without a weapon.

Is anybody guaranteeing he won't get hurt or saying that they know he will be fine. If so then they are clueless on a positive end as he is on a negative one.

At this point we have 90 roster spots and surely him taking one at this point is not hurting the team. If he is healthy at the end of the preseason then you can't cut him because you think he might get hurt, you have to go with the best players and hoe they stay healthy. We aren't cutting Beason because he was on IR last year and might reinjure his achilles again. And that is the logic that applies. If the doctors and trainers clear him to play then the coaches listen to them at they should.

Well, he made his point before that was brought up. I agree the betting part is dumb. But his point would have been attacked without it

Along with the name calling and my loyalty questioned, there has also been a lot of taking my comments out of context and reading what you want to read. Typical huddle behavior however and it's to be expected.

No where have I ever said:

I want Thomas Davis to get hurt again.

I am an expert on knee injuries.

I don't like Thomas Davis.

I'm a Panthers fan and I hope Davis makes it through the entire season. Why wouldn't I? We are a better team with him on the field.

I just don't think it's going to happen. Don't like my opinion? Awesome. But the name calling and questioning my integrity is immature and pathetic.

as far as "battle of wits without a weapon" - LOL. Man, that's rich!

My whole argument is based on medical evidence and history. This is going to be extremely difficult and returning back to form would be unprecedented. Go talk to a post-op PT and let them tell you how difficult it is to return from just one of these types of injuries.

You guys need to take the panther glasses off and be realistic and logical. Grow up.
