dont know why there is so much hate on captain. its not his fault any moderately sized DB on this team can't take his starting position away from him.

considering he was a 7th rounder, busts his ass on every play, is a very legitimate nickel corner and a good special teamer i'd say he deserves a spot on this team.

Why do they have to use the same media player as NFL.com though??????

I almosted posted earlier how bad that site is at playing videos.. with a decently quick-enough-to-handle-videos my computer tries shut down every time...

The coaches think we are good everywhere when we start the season and in reality there will be issues that were misjudged. The key is keeping it to a minimum. I believe DT is one of those positions Rivera just wants solid players at, not everyone can be a superstar. Another DE however is a must for any chance...Hardy needs to step up big time this season.

I am banking on our new injured 5th rounder to win the # 2 corner job just because captain was so bad last year as a starter year. Sad thing is Gamble was on the other side locking down the opposing teams # 1 receiver.

Here's his snaps since joining the team.

09(nickel back) allowed a reception on 31 of 45 targets, 1 interception and qb's had a 98.7 qb rating against him.

10(nickel back) allowed a reception on 2 of 73 targets,3 picks and qb's had a 74.6 qb rating against him.

11(# 2 corner) allowed a reception on 45 of 61 targets(6th worst in NFL) and had a 126.9 qb(4th worse in NFL)rating against him.

He had a good 2nd year at nickel corner but wasn't good enough to beat out Richard Marshall. We should all be very concerned if no other corner beats him out for the #2 corner.

Truth is he belongs as a nickel corner in this league, not a bad thing but its a fact.

    • More praise of Renfrow from Tim Weaver (formerly of USA Today's Panthers Wire, now SI.com), and also what I told some of you, my Huddle friends, from the start: keep it all in perspective, and don't conveniently---and perhaps unfairly, discount and label Renfrow as a JAG when it was a very debilitating illness affecting his play.    "It's understandable to be skeptical about Renfrow's abilities at this late point in his career. After all, he missed all of last season due to a bout of ulcerative colitis that also took a serious toll on his production in 2022 and 2023."   When Renfrow is healthy, he's an above average guy. Being 29 may hurt or help his chances depending upon perspective, but 29 for receivers generally means that there's still (sometimes plenty) gas in the tank. Renfrow also obviously has plenty of motivation and has come with his game face.   "Then agan, seeing is believing and by all accounts Renfrow has been very impressive since joining the Panthers a few months ago... Where Renfrow will fit in Carolina's new-look receiver corps remains to be seen, but at this rate it's going to be hard to exclude him from the initial 53-man roster." https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/hunter-renfrow-sick-route-panthers-training-camp Read the room, ladies and gentlemen. And don't get it twisted; Renfrow isn't the most talented receiver on the team, but we have seen his ceiling, when healthy, in a Raiders offense that wasn't necessary replete with talent. Consider what he can do, especially in the slot, in a Panthers offense primed with young talent (no pun intended). From sick to "sick routes," eh?
    • That is literally what I am talking about. Those were 53 man cuts. Not at the beginning of camp.  I would say the odds of Barno being back are extremely thin.
