The first team defense forced 2 turnovers and held a playoff team to field goals TWICE. This will be a bend but don't break d that will take chances to create turnovers till opponents get in the red zone. This team has definite playoff potential. So cool your mother fuging jets!

I don't think this will be a bend don't break defense at all. People are making way too much of what they saw last night. This defense is going to be an aggressive pressure defense. We will try to force the offense to make turnovers and dictate the pace of the game.

I was thinking about making the obligatory sky-is-not-falling-thread, but figured that it's a pointless lesson in futility. It's that time of year where extremes---one way or another---will make the usual Huddle stupidity appear benign. It is what it is. Sit back, enjoy the entertainment, or even throw yourself into the storm and ride the winds of anarchy to and fro.

Ain't it the truth.

People are only commenting on what they saw in our 1st Preseason. Granted there are a lot of negative comments, mostly because there were a lot of negative things to comment about. But, yes our 1st team defense did well in a lot of areas and I hope that it will be greatly improved. But then again, Beason would improve any defense.

I'm ready for an exciting season!

What I ment by bend but don't break probably isn't the correct term. Basically like what you are saying.aggressive trying to force turnovers until the red zone. Which will result in big plays for one team or the other. Then buckle down in the red zone and try and force field goals.

I agree with you that our defense will make big plays but the weakness is that it will give up some as well.

But I don't think we will play philosophically different between the 20s versus the redzone. If anything we will just dial up more pressure. I watched Jim Johnson defenses for year and you could always count on the fact we would blitz on third down and more than 5 and inside the redzone we would blitz on just about every down.

I blame it on the "ME" generation. They have the patience of a two year old. They put their time and energy into being a Panther fan. So they expect results immediately. And when that does not happen. They fap away, showing their displeasure, and letting the world know that once again they are not a happy camper.

Zod, I feel for the future with these kids in charge.

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
